- I bought this 2007 Scion tC about 3 months ago and I’m loving it. It has an after market sound system installed when I bought it. Problem is that I just changed the oil and I wanted to reset the oil light but to do so I need to use the mode button on my steering wheel. The buttons haven’t worked since I got it but the stereo has an interface controller on it. I’m currently trying to fix the controller but I don’t know if I even fix it if it will be able to effect the mode button and change what I see in my dash like it does stock. Does anyone know if the mode button will finction normally without stock radio?
ok first, you want to reset the oil change/maintenance reminder? That's with the odometer reset stalk by the speedometer. all you do is press it until you see the odometer, turn the key off, push and hold that stalk button, turn key to on, wait for the dashes to disappear then it's reset. If you repeat this after that you can count the number of dashes each is worth 1k miles. So if you want a reminder in 3k miles, release the stalk button when you see three dashes.
as far as the wiring for the steering controls, you'll have to find what brand of steering wheel interface you have, then get the wiring diagrams for it.. take a picture of it and post it up.
