Well this is my last topic I will ever wright here, I just got a new toyota matrix and I like it alot, with all the highway driveing I do it was a better choise for me.

Good luck all with your tC's
Glad to hear you're still in the toyota family

    Have fun in your matrix!
I went from a supercharged matrix to a supercharged tC

Matrix is a great car, though.
I'd take the Matrix's mechanical components in a tc shell any day. Manual tranny of course.

Why? You want 130hp? Or 170hp and 130tq? SC'd matrix was about 160whp - good for 2700lbs car, but no fun for a pig like tC. 2.4L was a good choice for the tC.
my point was, the matrix looks weird, otherwise i'd probably rather have that car instead. The tc's motor is ok, but every other component (tranny, suspension, steering) is weak. I'd be willing to trade a few WHP's for a better built car. The tc being the pig car it is, probably needs a few more cylinders or factory forced induction to make it a respectable "sport coupe". Otherwise, it might as well be a 130hp matrix.
right... id rather keep my tc.. mad people are trading in their tcs for cars that get a few better mpg and they dont realize that it will take them about ten years to even make up the difference..
i think they're trading in the tc because its an overrated, cheaply built car that has many flaws and they're tired of dealing with it.

That pretty much sums up why I also got rid of the car, way to many rattles for me.

BTW I got a white XR, and with all the cool aftermarket parts for it im sure the car has lots of potential.

I got the car from a volkwagan/subaru shop and he told me that they get lots of ppl bringing in there tC's to trade in and wanted to know why.

I also checked to see what there trying to get for my old car 18500, I think there crazy!!!!
yeah..your car probably will start to rattle and become a piece of shit if you drive it like one.. Its not a hot rod..so when you drive it poorly,of course its gonna have flaws..
I look at it as a beautiful looking car with nice interior..and a reliable camry motor with good pickup..

but i guess other ppl have different agendas for thier cars..!

NO, its not a hot rod (for sure). And yes, it is a nice looking car with a nice interior and reliable motor.

and yes, it does have some flaws..which are NOT caused by driving "fast" or "poorly".

IMO they tranny and suspension are the weakest link. Shifting with the drive by wire and hyrdo clutch combo can be a real pain to match revs. The gearing is a bit off too. The suspension feels like its underdesigned for such a heavy pig of a car. WAY too much roll and sway. And as we all know, it handles bumps/potholes as well as a train.
well I dont know too much about the suspension or tranny..not too mechanical..so cant disagree with you there..

The suspension could be better yes!

But it is only a 3 yr old company..so im sure they can figure something out for it in the coming years hopefully~

ps-good luck with matrix or w/e u get!
I never abused the tC in anyway,I always babied the car and when I first got it I loved the car, but I got a new job were I put atleast 300 to 400 miles in a week and it wasent the best car for comfort on the highway, it was also very noisy on the highway. Another thing is im planning to have kids soon and the trix was the key car for me.

I dident need a car that was a hotrod or anything, heck I have a motorcycle that will get me from 0-100 in less than 5 secands.

I have a 6 year old. Despite the rattles and noises, she loves the tc. Falls asleep practically every time she gets in (the back seat). Plus, from a safety standpoint, in the event of an accident, the rear seat in the tc is a very well protected compartment that would hold up well in a crash. As opposed to the rear seat in a 4 door sedan which is exposed and more likely to crumple in a side impact accident.

I'm not "in love" with the tc like i once was..but if you don't mind my asking.. why did u get it in the first place. Did you THINk it was going to be a hotrod?

Dude, if you're planning on having kids, i'd stop riding the bike if i were you. No matter how good of a rider YOU THINK you are, there are always a ton of terrible car drivers out there causing accidents (and killing) motorcylcists left and rite. I'd hate to hear of a wife who lost her husband or a kid who lost their dad because he wrecked on his bike after trading in the "hotrod tc".
The whole reason for the hotrod comment was someone said the xr is slower than the tC, as for me crashing, there are lots of dads who ride bikes and there fine, atleast I wear FULL GEAR when I ride not like most squids who wear t-shirts and shorts with a baseball cap on.

I also dont ride my bike on busy roads and I dont abuse the speed on the bike, if it wasent for you damn CAGERS out there bikers would have alot less to worry about.

And my trix has side curtain airbags in the event of a crash.

Yeah, and there are also LOTS of dads who USED to ride bikes but are dead or paralyzed etc.. now too.

A disproportionate number of people i know who ride have died or been in life threatening accidents. A friend of a friend is recovering in the hospital rite now.

Its your choice. I just think its a dumb one. Its like skydiving. Its a hellofalotta fun when it goes rite (99% of the time)...but that 1% when it goes wrong..you die.
You can also die from driveing your car, walking across the street, eating to much fatning things, smokeing.

Message here is live your life to the fullest and dont worry on how your gonna die.
Both of you are right, just gotta be careful in anything you do, good luck with the trix, and keep us informed also.
