- So about two years ago I bought a 2008 Scion TC. I always admired the car and as soon as I got it I was hooked. Did some simple mods but nothing crazy it was an automatic and I loved the thing.
Two weeks ago on my way home from work, I was on a four lane county highway that has a cross street on a curve. The highway did not have a stop sign and the cross street did, and as I approached the intersection. This guy tried to cross the highway and due the angle of the curve, he didn't see me coming.
We impacted as my front left corner took his passenger wheel pretty much at full speed, about 55.
Airbag deployment, engine bay pusehd sideways, but nothing but a small scratch from the air bag for me. Insurance gave me 6K for the car as it was totaled, love Liberty Mutual.
When a car proves its worh in this type of accident, I had to get get another.
I am now a proud owner of a 2015 Scion Tc manual and I am in love all over again.
So I have a lot plans but need a place to ask questions and see what others have done.
Looking forward to posting and working on my TC!
hey digger, thanks for the story. Yeah I remember lots of stories about the 1st gen tC saving people's lives. I remember the guy who got cut off or hit on the highway, the tC swerved went off the road, rolled 3 or 4 times, then came to rest against a tree! The driver was able to open the door and get out! had a couple broken ribs but the paramedics thought the guy was in shock. Turns out no.. the tC protected him! Car was toast, but he was able to walk to the ambulance! well they didn't let him, but he could have! amazing! I sure hope I never have an accident like that with the tC, but good to know it's a safe vehicle! better the car, than me!
yeah you're lucky you got a 15 tC since in 16, I think it was, Scion closed down as a brand. No worries I've talked to Toyota dealers, etc.. they've said that Toyota would still have most parts for awhile. Toyota is good like that, unlike other automakers that don't even care.
