I've had my tC for about a year, and i'm comfortable enough driving it that i'm ready to start adding stuff. Problem is its all stock, except a sub i added in the back. So im a little overwhelmed on where to start with the modifications. Can i get some help? What should i buy to start out with?
Drop it like its HOT....drop it like its HOT!
What do you want out of it? Modifying your car really comes down to personal preference..

Not sure what difference it makes to the suggestions, but it is a 2008

should be all the same bro..the only diff of the years are the exterior stuff like tailights n headlights? correct me if im wrong someone
Im definately wanting it to be faster, and not too worried about any body kits til later. I hate cars that look fast but have stock performance.
^^^WORD!!! start out with an CAI= Cool Air Intake if u didnt know already..
    CAI > Exhaust > Springs > Strut/Sway Bars > ETC

Just buy something performance wise, and while you're on the hunt I'm sure the next thing to buy will come to mind! Happy Modding!
    Before you start dropping money...

Lets start with this since you decided to you want speed before looks.

    1) How much power do you want?
    2) How much do you have to spend?
    3) Do you have realistic goals that can be accomplished?
    4) Do you know anything about engines, forced induction, and the mechanical workings of automobiles?
^^^ Yea, really depends on how much you want to spend and what you're looking for?

TRD springs/TRD rear sway bar are cheap and will completely change how you vehicle handles!
front and rear sway bars. Will feel like a completely different car. The best bang for your buck in my opinion..
if ya aint got that much money, id say go for an intake and crank pulley, then drop that sucker
    TuuuuRRrbbbBBBbbboooOOOOoOOsssttttttttttttt
Also, i have a question about exhausts. If i buy an "exhaust system" does that include everything needed, ie: headers and cat converter? Also, should i get cat back or axle?
unless your planning to turbo it, your best bet is to buy a "cat-back" exhaust. This includes a "mid-pipe" and "axleback". You best bet is to look on scionlife.com, its like the ebay of scion parts!
I think your first step should be reading through the forums. We have tons upon tons upon tons of information on different parts and modifications for the tC.

What I did was make a note on my computer for what I wanted to do visually and performance wise. I also used good old fashioned pen and paper and wrote down what I wanted, grabbed prices from different websites (that were found through this forum) and made a decision once I knew I had the best price for the item. I still have more to go but I think planning is the biggest accomplishment that I've done over anything I will do to my car.

good idea i would create a mini budget and set some goals for your car... It hards to say where to start since everyones opinion is different... and there are mods that will make you car faster while not adding any HP such as suspension, short shifters, and tire upgrades.... do some research and feel free to ask questions thats why we are all here.
