Hey I'm going to be moving out to Utah pretty soon and I need a new car but I was wondering how the tC does in Utah snow? Would I be better off getting an AWD car or would the tC with some snow tires on it be fine?
    thanks for the help!
Where you moving in Utah? I lived there for two years and cars drove all time in the snow. The two years I was there though it didnt really have a big snow storm or anything so if you got some chains I think you would be set.
to Logan. its right in the valley so the snow should stick around for a while. would having snow tires be enough?
My experience with the tC and snow is bad... I've owned close to 15 cars (mostly Hondas, but lots of other makes), and IMO the tC was the worst one out of all of them. If I remember correctly, I got flamed pretty bad on here and was told I was wrong or couldn't drive, but most of the ppl making comments don't have weather like up here in Boston...

With that being said, I didn't have snow tires. So that should make a little difference!
^^Boston and Utah have different amounts of snowfall. I ahve never driven in the snow cause when I lived there I was too young to have a driver license and it NEVER snows in So Cal so I am not too big of help. I know that when I went up into the mountains to go snowboarding we didnt have to put on chains and they do keep the streets pretty clear when it does snow.

I would for sure get snow tires though cause they do help out.
i lived in Jersey for 3 years and the snow was really bad sometimes, never had any problems, i even with my Tc to the mountains in PA to go snowboarding and the car did great.....!
    Awesome! Thanks guys
you definetly need snow tires. my car gets stuck everytime a decent amount of snow falls. but also my car is droped so that dosnt help
I should also add, my opinion might change after this upcoming winter since we (Boston) had record setting snowfall last winter. We had just about 8" of snow fall every 5-7 days for 2 months straight!!
I just barely got my tC at the end of summer and am also very anxious about the winter here in Utah. My old beater camry never had any issues (with non-studded snowtires) on the worst days up little or big cottonwood canyons. I doubt Boston's snow compares much with 10% incline and 1.5 ft dump (on the good days ;) )

Anyways I went down to big O, and the snowtires altogether with service is around $710; which is more than a season's pass. I might just get some thule chains and try rallying up the hill that way. I'll let you guys know if/when I fall off into a ravine...
I am the new Scion Champion down here in Bountiful, UT. I would love to show you your options on what the tC or and AWD car can do for you in the snow. Just email me to jshumway@menlove.com. Thanks and good luck. PS Are you going to school up there? GO Aggies!

just remember you are driving a smaller version of the Camry
you wont have any problems with the tC in snow! especially if you drive a standard!

I got thru last year in Pennsylvania with record amount snow
and I didnt even have snow tires!

remember to downshift when coming to a stop
    keep a safe distance
    we already have anti-lock breaks
and if you get stuck start out in 2nd to help get you out

If you do get snow tires I dont see anyone having a problem at all
    oops back from the dead
