- So recently I started seeing drops on my driveway from my car probably one or two drops a week kind of thing nothing major so I did an oil change and cleaned the car with engine de-greaser and cleaner from top to bottom and just waited to see what happens. About a week later I noticed a leak on the top of my engine which seems to be coming out of my crown nuts. It comes out there and goes down and towards the back and I assume that is how it leaks downwards. There could be more that is leaking but it hasn't shown up yet I'll keep updating with the results my question is what do I do now? What needs to be fixed how hard is it? Or is there more to this problem that I'm not seeing? Also it is a 2005 scion tC with 107k miles on it.
TLDR: Oil leak on 2005 scion tc where the crown nuts are on top of the engine see photos.
hey mashburn.. thanks for the pics! That's part of the valve cover, and that should also be part of the valve cover gasket under the cover. Here's a link to the gasket, shouldn't be that big of a deal to take the cover off, replace the gasket, bolt back together. After this long, since your car is and 05, could've had an 04 production date, that's going on 14.5 years old! Guess nothing lasts forever ;)
EDIT: Yup, I checked the service manual to look at the valve cover gasket. And yes! Those bolts you took a picture of go directly into the gasket, they have their own gasket seal, the parts diagram doesn't show that in detail only the spark plug hole gasket portions, etc. So there ya go, looks like it's only a bad gasket!
