The steering wheel gets a little tighter and loses some power but is still drivable. If I continue to drive more lights start to pop up. When I turn off the car and turn it back on no lights appear. I took it to the mechanic and his diagnostic tool read speed sensor. I got it back and the same thing is happening again. This model doesn't have a reservoir for power steering fluid. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know if this is related but after releasing clutch in neutral the car makes a type of winding noise but as I step on clutch it stops. Is this normal?
hey larry.. I deleted your other post, no need for duplicates. Ok onto your problem. You first need to check two things.. First, check your brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir, is it low? That causes the brake light on the dash to come on. Now the steering, yes I believe the 15 or the tC2.5 we call it, 2.5 generation, has electric steering. Both of those going plus extra lights on the dash? Not likely..
The one thing I remember is when the odd warning lights come on like yours, you need to check the battery. A bad battery ends up causing some odd voltage issues and that results in some odd warning lights illuminating. Have your battery tested at a place like advance auto, they have a really good midtronics brand tester.
that clutch noise is not related to any of the electrical warning lights.. Chances are it's the clutch bearing aka "throwout bearing" it could be bad or it's just a bit noisy. I've had ones on other makes, like my civic where it always made that damned whirring noise when it was disengaged. Only fix was to replace the entire bearing with a new clutch. You could live with it and see if it gets worse, might just be a noisy one but works fine.
