I have a 2005 Scion tc manual and the a/c has gone out, had it looked at by two people, both who say it is the a/c clutch that has been demagnetized. any body have this problem? also any place reliable to find and order such a part? and any other info relevant is welcome! thanks
You're better off buying the entire new A/C compressor, as I don't believe they sell the clutch separately for our vehicle. Many cars have them separately, but I haven't seen ours like that.
On the plus side, you don't need to get any of the other things that normally go with compressors, since you have no internal damages. It's something you can probably do yourself if you hate the environment. You can simply have a shop evacuate the system, then replace the compressor, and go back for recharge.
