Removing 3M sticky tape?

I got some eyelids in the mail today with some old sticky tape that for some reason has some paper attached to it, as well as bits and pieces of plastic from the plastic bag they were wrapped in.

Does anyone know if methyl ethyl ketone will take care of that crap to the point where I can completely from any tape and left over gump from the coated polyurethane and reapply a new layer of tape? I've heard it can reduce the stickiness by 90%+, which is fairly significant and may make clearing this stuff off super easy.

If nobody knows, shall I do an experiment

Mineral spirits. Best stuff to remove vinyl, tint, and stickers without hurting the clear coat or paint. My friend worked at a body shop doing vinyl graphics for 3 years and they used that all the time.

    x2
I'll give that a shot. Edit: would HomeDepot carry that stuff?
Yeah, it's in the paint section right next to the Asetone. Blue and gold can I think.

Great. What would you recommend for reapplying sticky tape to fit the shape of the eyelids? I'm at the point where I want to remove every trace of tape and apply a new layer.
That, I'm not sure about. There's got to be some type of vinyl adhesive you can use. I'd stop at a body shop and see what type of chemical they have that they apply vinyl with. A lot of time, it's just soapy water and it's like a clinging effect, but sometimes they have a liquid adhesive they dip the vinyl in (like paper mache) and then apply it.
I bought some Methyl Ethyl Ketone from Home Depot last night dumped a good .5 cm pool of the stuff in a rectangle shaped pizza pan (one with deep sides). I put the adhesive sides of the eyelids in the MEK and let soak for about 2 hours. Came back and the adhesive came right off like butter using just a sponge. This will allow me to apply a completely new layer of adhesive to the eyelids.
Did you sniff the Methyl Ethyl Ketone afterwards?

    Don't do that. (sniff it)

I was getting a tad high from the prolonged exposure to the vapors and my crappy attempt at making a 'mask' (which consisted of another shirt, hahaha).
That's the best..........using a cotton shirt to block out chemical odors..........haha............i love how no matter what, that's the first thing people do rather than get a chemical mask for 15$......hahaha
i removed my external rain guards to replace them with in channel because the first ones leaked. I tried eveything to get the 3m off and what finally worked exceptionally well is a product called Oops which i got at advanced auto for like 4 bucks. its for removing decals, stickers, and the like. came right off
wait so the eyelids came with 3m sticky tape? that sounds shitty wouldnt crap get stuck behind it? atleast u took it off wut are u going to put on there now to stick the eyelid on? HMM am i talkin about the same thing ur talkin about? could i ask anymore questions?
