Here are some sneak peak shots of the tC as it gets ready for Round 1 of Formula Drift Long Beach. If you guys are in the area, definitely come check out how we drift the streets of LBC.

The biggest change we made this year was the engine. Since the Beams 3SGE did not hold up to our expectations, we have decided to utilize the factory Scion tC engine, the 2AZ. The 2AZ has been proven to be able to withstand high horsepower numbers while maintaining reliability. Chris Rado, my Scion Team mate who runs his famous record tearing Scion tC uses the same base motor (of course for a different application) has proven this motor to withstand numbers up to 900hp, possibly even more.

Also, along with the motor change, we modified the roll cage a little bit to make the chassis stiffer. A stiffer chassis + awesome as hell Toyo R1-R is a deadly combination. It will be full of traction which in turn will give us more smoke thanks to more torque from the 2AZ.

Look out for us touring with Formula Drift for the 2010 Series!

its very intresting to see that they will use this motor for a drift setup.
I want to know what trans they're using.
    ^^ I know right
this will shut up alot of tc haters.... man i hate them with a passion
haters will hate, regardless of reason or cause.
you'd have to staple their mouths shut to really shut them up, cut out their tongue, or other means of dismemberment.
    ^+1.

I just want to know how to use a 2AZ in RWD, I've always liked the idea of a 73-75 Celica with a new EFI engine, I think the 2AZ would be great in that set up. Nice tq and hp with less weight. I'm going to the Formula D Streets of Long Beach so I'll be sure to take as many pictures as I can.
I asked Ken G about the box and this is what he said

    Matt,
We are using a G-force dog box with a custom bell housing. There are a lot of transmissions you can use but I would assume all of them would need a custom bell to mate it to a 2AZ.

That's not what I wanted to hear but owell. I can't wait to see this thing!
that is carzy cool looking. Sweet find
nice. original motor back in the car! i loved the 3sgte too. glad i decided to go to this event this year.

ya, like ken said. you can use pretty much any transmission you want on a rwd car. the bell housing which is the casing the connects the engine to the transmission just has to match up. ive seen some bell housing that were just weilded up with thick plate metal.
Yeah, I new that you can use any, I was just hoping there was some random one that worked, and he knew about it

You can also make an adapter plate like a lot of the AE86 guys do

That's what I'm going to do when my T-50 goes.

I've never looked at the the 2AZ bellhousing to see if above method would work, but I assume so.
what happened with gushi and rsr tc at round 1 in long beach? i showed up after the 32 qualifying and didnt see him in the top 16.

i didnt see him at all at the event.

did he not finish his setup on his car?
