    Hello everyone,
My name is Adam, I recently bought a car from a dealership that died within a week of having it. They said if its not worth fixing theyll just get me in a different car of equal value.

I'm looking at their site and they have a used 2006 Scion TC with a 5 speed Manual Transmission.
I'm on a limited amount of time to pick a car if they cant fix this one.

So I'm wondering, what are some things to look out for with these cars, what are some common issues that may make it not worth getting.

Here is a link to their listing for the car.

Thank you all so much in advance.

Hey.. Welcome to cstc! I did look at your link in the car does look okay. the things you're going to have to look out for are the manual transmission. the 05 to 06 had problems with the synchronizers. what you want to do is to have the car off push the clutch pedal down and go through the gears if they catch or it's not smooth it might be the synchros. you can also go ahead and drive it and see if the gears are catching as well. if it was an automatic I would say that all you would have to do is a drain and fill of the trans fluid but because it's a manual you're going to have to look at it closer and with that many miles on it some people at that mileage had already gone through two or three transmissions.

If you have the money to swap in a new transmission in case this dies that okay looks like it's a good deal on that be the only weak spot
