    Maybe the disc is corrupt or scratched? Try running the disc doctor on it

    So it can read your factory driver disc... how about a different dvd from the one you just bought? any movies able to read?

    its possible the new disc didnt burn correctly and windows cant see\recognize the file structure on the disc...

    It could be a picky drive. You should test other cd/dvds on it to see if it's either the drive or the disk.

    Ey man, Go to my computer. Can you see the DVD Drive? If not try this.

    1.Go to Registry Editor. On xp Click Start, Run then type REGEDIT on Vista Just Click Start and type REGEDIT on the text box.

    2.When your in the registry editor. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    3. DELETE the LOWERFILTER and UPPERFILTER. Close the Registry editor then Restart the computer.

    I fixed few computers using that method. Both Vista and XP. When you open my Computer and the cd/dvd drive doesn't show up and you can't play and cd/dvd. And in the device manager it has a yellow exclamation point eventhough with the right driver installed.
