SIDE AIRBAG RECALL

    Welp, if you have side air bags, it's time for a recall.

    Apparently, if you slam the door too hard while the tC is running or within 90 seconds of turning off the ignition... it could deploy the side airbags. Sweet! Just what I wanted for Halloween.. a bag exploding in the side of my head! Too bad it's not full of candy... This is recall #2 for me, the first one being the wind deflector on the roof. Hmmm, I wonder if we'll get another one of those sweet die cast models of the tC for our trouble???

    haha i guess i got lucky with the recalls, i took my car in for the roof thing, and it was ok. and i got the base modle so i dont have any toys, so haha, what else can go wrong?! hahaha.

    Im waiting for my letter too but supposibly there are only a limited number of tC's that are affected by this recall so we might have a chance to miss it...
    letters aren't going to come out until the end of the month, at least thats what Toyota told me

    I wish I had the wind deflector recall- a die cast tC sounds cool!

    Well, I got my damn letter in the mail about this today. I am so fu**ing pissed. I am taking it there Wednesday and I am staying with my car. I am taking my camera to record the entire car for any scratches prior to them taking it and if there's anything on that car that wasn't there before, I will explode and I won't care how big a scene I make.

    i could probably look it up somewhere, but im lazy too night
    not all tC's have the side airbag right? i know that i have the knee airbag, but i think that that ones standard.

    I believe they all have side airbags, but the curtain airbags system is an option. I could be wrong though.

    Actually, the side & side curtain airbags come together as an option. You can't have one without the other. At least that's what the site says anyways.

    aight cool. Yeah, i wasn't sure b/c my mom's Stratus has side airbags but not curtain airbags. It was a split option on hers...........oh well.

    Yea, I dont blame you, I've seen other cars like that too. The tC is a whole different kind of animal. Anyone get their sensors replaced yet? I don't even have an appointment yet, hehe!

    Just made my appt. for this Thursday, December 14. They said it will take about 1.5-2 hours to inspect the air bags and then they would have to order them and I would have to come back and leave my car with them for 1 day. That's bull shit b/c I'll take off work and sit in their waiting room the entire time they have my car. I don't trust dealers, never have, never will and am going to take multiple pictures of all my car panels and rims and interior shots to make sure that if there's another scratch on this car or grease stain on the interior, they WILL NOT give me some bull shit of how it was there. I hate this. I'm halfe tempted not to get this done but then I think of later on these damn things blowing out accidentally and possibly someone getting hurt in my car or them saying that since I didn't do the recall, it's not covered. I HATE DEALERS!!!!

    i'm with you on trusting dealers, never have never will(to many bad experiences and unfulfilled promises), haven't gotten my letter yet but i only check my po box once a week. got my 06 at the end of sept i think maybe a week into oct missed out on the whole wind deflector fiasco(or so i hope i dont see no "protective film")so maybe i wont get one. heres hoping.

    I really don't think mine are defective b/c the way my friend slams my door I want to kill him. He gets out and basically baseball swings it shut. He had done this about 10-15 times before I even got this letter so I think they would have gone off by now. We'll see tomorrow and I'll let you all know.
