So last night I got to drive my friend's Mopar Stage 2 SRT-4...overall I was very impressed with the car as a whole, it handled decent, his mopar stage 2 package came with a short shifter that reduces the throws to a distance shorter than anything ive ever seen, and there is almost no turbo lag, it spools very easy. The only thing that kind of caught me off-guard was the torque steer, when you get into the gas it pulls pretty hard to the right, the gearing in the SRT is similar to that of the tC's so RPM wise they are pretty close, like a 40MPH roll would be in 3rd in the SRT because they redline at 6k just like us, and speaking of a 40mph roll in 3rd gear I got the ok from him and our friend who was next to us decided to do so, before i even had the pedal to the floor the turbo was spooled and the wheels were spinning, no traction what so ever (mostly because his tires are bald) but I was still really impressed with it...just felt like sharing the fun i had last night

I like them. I'm thinking of getting one for a DD.

I'd imagine those Dodge Neon with turbo would be pretty fun.

Hahaha, great way to piss off a person with an SRT-4

lol, yeah well it is what it is. An Si Civic is still a Civic.

An SRT-4 Neon is still a Neon. It's just that those Neon owners want to ignore that it's a Dodge Neon.

priceless, and I agree an SRT-4 is and always be a neon, at least the old ones the caliber...well, we wont even get into those things, i hate em

but anyways i used to hate on neons and SRT-4s (still do hate on neons) but his stage 2 impressed me, whats even more exciting is theres a chick drivin around my town with a stage 3 with some other upgrades, making slightly over 500hp and was good for an 11.6 second pass with a slipping clutch in the 1/4th, i dunno, my opinion on the car has changed some since i drove one

Haha. As far as the srt goes... Maybe it was the peeps I grew up around but I would never buy a Chrysler product and it makes it even worse that it is powered by a mitsu engine. While I was in sales I sold a used srt4 to a customer and he tried to return it the next day. It is a good chance that he got an adrenaline rush when I took us on the freeway to go get gas b4 the test drive and he was looking like a kid in a candy store when I handed the keys to him. He was almost drooling on the test drive, but that rush you get wears off quick and you realize u r driving a pos like that every day and paying $400 a month to do so.

I remember driving on a 1 lane highway at night and coming up quick on a neon. The guy was doing like 10 below the speed limit. I usually take it easy at night since deer are likely to jump out onto the road but anyway...

The road splits into two lanes eventually and I pull around to the left to pass him and he starts speeding up. I'm like, wtf lol neon wants to race me? He's totally leaning over in his seat staring at me. He has his right hand at 12' on the steering wheel so I know it's an automatic. I'm like... sweet I got this. I downshift and punch it, the guy pulls away from me at like twice my speed though..i was laughing so hard as he was pulling away even though I was losing. it was a #$%@ing neon. I learned later that night that they sell neons turbo'd.

lol #1 rule with the SRT-4 Dodge Neon, they want to race EVERYTHING.

    • Jan 26, 2009 10:17:44 pm
lol i love how this has turned into a flame thread, i know that it isnt made the best, long lasting products have never been chrysler's strong point, i was just saying i was impressed with the driving capabilities of the car
    • Jan 26, 2009 10:39:56 pm
Agreed Brent, but you know how it gets when you are in a forum full of Toyota fans. I may not like the SRT-4, but I respect their speed and I'd like to try one. (driving that is)
    • Jan 26, 2009 11:47:47 pm
agreed, they are quick for the price. But I wouldn't buy one, had a neon once... Didn't like how it was made, cheap interior, and the tranny was bad as soon as I got it
    • Jan 26, 2009 11:55:51 pm
lol Ive seen a couple of fake srt4s on a side note I saw a fake evo today trying to rev up next to me
    • Jan 27, 2009 7:37:48 am
they're pretty quick even stock...two of my friends have str4s. one is stage 2 with a 3" turbo back side exhaust...it sounds beautiful. he got 12.3 at the quarter mile last time we went. the only cons that i found when driving it was torque steer. first gear sucks, as well as 2nd, then when you finally get grip on 3rd omg they just take off like no other. another thing was making u turns...OMG they take the biggest u turns ever. kinda like a semi truck hahaha. somthing else that sucks are the seats. the feel like they're made out of plastic and the rear doesnt have power windows. overall i think its a pretty good car. i just wouldnt own one.
