WINDOW TINTING LAW IN IL.....?

    yooo. uhm, i could have sworn i have been seen things on forums, not only scion forums, but other forums saying that IL is changing their tint law? i have read that they are passing a bill or maybe passed alrdy? that we are allowed tints in the front now? it mentions either....50% front, dark as you want int he back. OR....35% all around? has anyone ever read this or has been keeping up with it and actually knows about this? if it is true? do you know a website that can prove this? thanks!!

    You can simply call the RMV or a local shop that does inspection stickers to get your answer.

    i didn't hear anything on IL tints.. all i know is before you tint your fronts.. make sure you check to see if you have the factory tint on them too.

    You are not allowed to have any tint on the front windows in Illinois.

    I have not heard anything but it has not stopped me. I have 15% all around except the front which is 35% and drive by cops all the time and they dont do shit.

    That didn't stop me either though. I have a friend that has tint and he lets down his front windows everytime he passes a cop. Then again I think he has 5% all around.

    the bill has passed from both houses. thing is. govenor Pat Quinn?, has to sign it to make it a law? so cross your fingers?! ive been reading up on this and i just wanted to know if anyone else knu about it lol

    I heard about it too! I think it's in the processed of being finalized thank goodness, then I can get my driver/passenger side tints back on!

    well, everybody in IL, cross your fingers. they even mention that they actually have support for this bill? so i dont see why they wouldnt? they mention(not sure if its true) that even the IL state police are for it? read it on some forums. dno if it was a scion forum or some other forum. but i read it, and seen it...just dno if its true hahaha

    nooo tint for me here in rhode island u cant have ne tint at all!!! this state sux i might move to mass lmao!!

    Well i guess i put a curse on myself. This past week the 6th through the 14 i traveled home from west virginia. I was going about 95-100 the whole time on the highway not a single problem. Then as i got off the freeway i passed through a yellow light. Two seconds later a police officer pulls a u-turn and just follows me. After about 2 mins he decides to pull me over. He told me it was due to the fact that i went through the yellow. Knowing that i would fight the ticket for that he handed me 2 tickets, $25 each, one for no front license plate, and one for "obstructed front windows".

    Then on friday(the 10th) i was on my way to a friends birthday dinner. I made a right hand turn on green and passed a police officer. He too pulled a u-turn flipped on his lights and pulled me over. He told me i was getting a ticket for the tint on my windows. I tried my hardest to explain that i had just gotten a ticket and was going back to West Virginia in a few days and would be getting it removed. However the cop was a real asshole and said im not arguing about it and just wrote the ticket and handed it to me without saying anything and left.

    Pissed off as all hell i went to the station and talked with the Sargeant. I explained everything to him and he was just as much of an asshole. Then he asked to see the first ticket for the tint so i showed it to him. He then called the officer that pulled me over and he came out and we all talked about it. They told me the reason i got the second ticket was that i couldnt prove that i had just gotten a ticket. but here is the odd part.....they told me if i get pulled over again that the other offier would be able to see that i got a ticket for the tint on my window....however the officer who just pulled me over could not see that i just got a ticket 3 days earlier. i questioned that, but after about 5 mins of the 3 of us talking they took the ticket ripped it up and gave me my license. So in the end i recieved only 1 ticket for the tint, but everytime i drive now its with the windows down, or if they are up and i get a hit on my radar detector the windows go down.

    Ours here is 20 rear and 25 fronts, im thinkin doing 20 fronts and 15 rear.
