Aoite guys for the past few weeks, my passenger side low beam kept on going out. Didnt know why because when i just gave the socket a wiggle then the light would come back on. So from there i thought it was just a connection problem. Then i decide to just check the harness or where the OEM socket is and found out that it had melted the crap out of itself and my nokya bulb. My question is, is it hard to replace the oem socket or is there more to that??
Its crazy because the driver side harness is fine so im stumped on why this happend on the passenger side.

Yep, Like I said in other threads Nokya are horrible bulbs. They are at least 70w you want 55w bulbs to operate safely.

You can buy a new 9006 harness and replace the plug.

So what does a heavy duty harness consist of and where would you recommend purchasing one? What about Nokya bulbs in fog lights? Or is it the same, I know 55w is the load that the harness is set for but I've seen some people run bulbs fine (that I know of now that I see this)

its just thicker guage wire that can handle the higher wattage.

Those dont really do much. It's more like hoping it burns the "Heavy Duty Harness" rather than your stock's but its not 100% guarantee

yeah, the other thing since one side melted... it's likely due to a poor connection and the connectors 'arcd'. Be sure to put sufficient dielectric/bulb grease.

youre still not guaranteed that the burn will happen at the new "upgrade harness"

Just use proper bulbs and save yourself headaches down the road.

overloading that much wattage your lucky all you ended up with was a melted socket.

Same ish happened to me. I upgraded to a heavier harness and that burnt out as well so because i am crazy i too parts off the old harness (pig tails) and just connected those to my harness and havent had any problems. Wierd. Its been almost a year.

Thanks guys for the input right now im thinking about calling the dealership and askin them how much for a new socket. When you guys say harness are you guys talking about the socket or the wires?? sorry im dumb when it comes to electrical. Ive been buying these same bulbs for a while now and its always my right side that goes out first and the crazy thing is the left side is fine it doesnt heat up the way the right side does so i dont relaly know whats up.

Just called the dealership today and they quoted me for the socket only for $12,80 and if i have them install it, its going to be $98 + tax which will probably be $100 something. Thinking about installing it myself but then again not too sure.

Yeah don't forget to put on dielectric/bulb grease on the terminals, otherwise you'll probably burn it again.

Yah thats probably what mostly caused it is because i didnt put grease or whatever you call it.

these are the harnesses that i use. i had to cut my stock wires and solder on a set because i had the same problem as you. then i added another set to make sure that it doesnt happen again

because i yet have to say it again.. new heavy duty plugs are useless, pigtail harnesses are useless...
pretty much alot of those certain things are useless and you shouldn't waste your money..

that KYO thing? no.. if you need a new connector? just buy a new connector.

yeah a pigtail harness would just mean it would be more susceptible to burn at the stock plug anyways. Unless you upgrade everything starting from the fuse box

Dielectric grease is only like a dollar at like advance auto, plenty to go around.

Thanks for all the input guys still cant find a place that has it, and the dealership gave me the wrong harness. They told me to go the shop foreman, wasnt there so i have to go back there later. If you guys know another place or site that sells just that piece pls let me know.
