For Sale Requirements Suggestion

    Ok so there is already a requirment to have picture with name on there, so many don't fallow.
    What if there was another one where u have to be a member of cstc for ex amount of time before you can post. So as to not get spammers just using the site as a classifieds....

    Just a idea I thought of while doing laundry. Bounce it around or don't :p

    Whose spamming on selling stuff though? Are you referring to bad deals going on because people aren't familiar with some who post stuff up? If so i guess there should be a sellers rating system?

    well im on this other site called solecollector and what they do for there b/s/t thread is before you start posting for sale items is that you gotta be a member for 90 days & have 160 posts just to make yourself know before selling i think its a good way of doing it, and also setting up agreement purposes just incase you get beat thru a deal at least there would be some type of written consent between you and the other person

    I see what you are saying, this has been discussed before among admin and moderators. Luckily we haven't had too many problems with spamming on the site.

    Spammers are easy to spot because they never follow the sales rules and their first post happens to be selling a product which has very little relevance to the car forum. We find these posts and delete them before anyone gets to see; when they keep on we make the account inactive.

    I wasn't meaning to say anyone was. It just a easyer way of not having to delete so many post this way it frees up mods to do better things with there time.

    Its like Fark.com, You can't post until you've verified email and waited X amount of days.

    But we like dropping the ban hammer on spammers we haven't had one in a while. It's really just people not comprehending that no matter how many times you post without following rules, we'll always delete them. I mean the big red agreement is hard to miss.

    Another important thing to remind users is that if you spot any thread out of line, feel free to use the report button. Mods are usually in and out all day anyways.
