tint advice :]

    so for christmas i received a gift certificate at a local tint shop. now i've been mulling over possible tint percents in my head for the past six months it seems like, but i can't decide what's best.

    i wan't it dark, but i don't want to get pulled over
    and most importantly, i want to be able to see out my sides at night.

    i know what 5% looks like at night and its a little too dark for me.

    any suggestions are appreciated :]

    i would go 17% percent all around. you can look at pics in my profile. i live in indy as well and i have had no problems at all.

    State police will not mess with you at all. I have talked to a lot of them, and they have all said that they wont even mess with the tint laws. They said its too much of a hassle to follow up with the reports they have to do, so i dont think you have to worry about it being below legal limit, so i would say 17 percent is the way to go.

    dont know how strict they are in indiana, but either way if you're getting tint, eventually you'll run into problems. but who cares, the way i look at it is like an annual due i pay for my tint which is well worth it for the privacy, looks, and cutting out glare.

    20% all around is more than good enough imo. thats what i have on my current car, and that' what i had on my last car.

    in indiana 25% percent is the law, so its not very strict, and they dont care if you go darker. I mean you get go limo or anything, but unless you draw a lot of attention to yourself they will not say anything.

    I have 20% and its even a little hard to back up at night. I wouldn't go any darker then that.

    20% looks best! I have 35% in the front cause NYC police always bother me. But I plan on changing them one day!

    I dont know about u guys but here in cali... theyre cracking the whip on tint laws :[

    i'm now leaning towards 20% or maybe 17%

    it's good to know cops don't bother with tint laws in indy too

    I have 40% all the way around because I wanted tint but also didn't want to get my balls busted. Unfortunately this did not work because I just got busted and now have to pay a $250 fine which was more than the tint cost. So think real hard about it.

    wow that blows. well the way i look at it now is if i'm gonna get pulled over anyway, i might as well get the % i want.

    that's really weird because here the laws allow up to 30%. but 40? dang.

    Yeah I thought that it was up to 35% and that is why I got 40, thinking that I would be safe. Then I found out that any tint on a car is illegal. I was not too happy. Just realize this, if you get tint and get busted for it, you will be paying fines out the ass. I am all about tint too because w/o it, the car just doesn't look right, but at the same token, it sucks to be blowing all this money just to keep tint.

    I used to have 5% tint all around, and yes it is cool, at night you really cant see anything but headlights, I used to think I was a bad ass to driving around town and people cant see me. Untill I hit someone on a bike cuz I could not see. Do whatever to the back 3 windows but leave the front 2 tint free, Just a heads up so you wont end up putting some poor sap in a ambulance.

    Well I have 35% in the front and 17% in the back. I think it looks good. A lot of people have darker in the front but I don't need the police on my case so I went a little lighter. When it comes to seeing out, I would think 17% would be hard seeing as though I have 17 in the back and at night or early mornings I can barely see. But hey it's really all a personal thing. Make sure you post some pics when you get it done though!!!

    Go with 15-17%. Mines 15% and its suprisingly light. Its dark enough from the outside to only let you see silohettes, but from inside its a nice darkening that still allows you to see your mirrors.
