nice thanks for the link!! but which bolt was the hardest he said?? didnt look that hard to me just bolt-ons!! also i ordered an anti foul for the s pipe hopefully it will work (ebay) but he didint mention if you leave or take off the bracket on the bottom holding the stock header to the new header....but nice write up doing mine this week!! has anyone seen any good improvement from this mod using stock exhaust?

anyone care to help me do mine (houston)

The tricky bolt is on the manifold all the way left......it's just cramped. Use a 12mm box wrench and tap it with a hammer . The bottom brackets are only left on if the header itself uses them. But, you can leave them there if you want, but they won't be doing much.

What header you get? I'm in MD but i'd help.

The megan header has the bottom mounts to bolt to the stock brackets.......I'd use them if you don't have an engine damper....they keep the header from cracking with excess engine movement.

The Megan header will improve your low to mid HP/tq range but be somewhat choking in top end. You'll enjoy your 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear though

hey, anybody have issues with the spring loaded bolts under the car? i have soaked them countless times in wd40 and barely got one out. the other completely REFUSES to budge.

Nah, those came out quick and easy for me. I used my impact gun to put them back in so they are really tight but taking them out I used hand tools. If you have access to an impact gun, I highly recommend using it before you round the bolt off if you slip.

WD-40 works fine, but if you want real results use penetrating oil. Works much faster and is just generally better at the job than WD.

Also, when i was a mechanic as a rule of thumb we always installed any exhaust bolts with some anti seize on them. That way if in the future you gotta work here again, you'll thank yourself.

As far as spring loaded bolts being a pain to get off - they are often just that. Hose em down with penetrating oil, wait a few minutes, and get after it with an air ratchet if you have one, if not just go to town with hand tools.

Never Seize on every exhaust bolt, every time FTMFW!!!

k i got a pretty stupid question but when u say disconnect the negative battery terminal after installin the antifouler, i was told by my autos teacher to never disconect the battery terminals because it will set off the airbags. idk if i misunderstood this or misunderstood wat u said, can u clear things up please.
    • Aug 26, 2008 8:13:49 am
Must have misunderstood. It won't set off the airbags b/c it's not a detonation signal to the "brain" for the airbags. Disconnecting the negative is the safest way to take all power away from all sensors and resistors in the vehicle.

Biggest problem I had when installing my header was my 02 sensor bolt, I had to take it to ptuning to get them to do try & take it off & not even they could get it off so I had to spend another 140 bucks(Love ptuning discount) & get a new 02 sensor from a dealership. The only good thing about it is that I've got a 02 sensor on my stock header & on my DC sports header so its an easy swap for emissions
