I really want to move away from this place one day...I think. On my trip to California last summer I passed through Boulder City, NV and Vegas and fell in love! I also hear Pheonix and Sacramento are nice. I have never been to either, nor do I -think- I want to live in CA. Because you guys are from all across the US and I am sure have travelled...where do you think it is nice to live and why? I kinda like the country atmosphere here, but the city is not far away. I get bored easily!! Anyways...just starting a thread and wanna know your opinions.Alexis

Well I-m in the Los Angeles area and I really don-t like living in california. I love the rain and except for this week, WE GET NONE. I-m rather conservative so california-s hippie laws are a pain in the ass and everyone else votes democrat....makes for interesting discussions lol But if you want an absolute lack of all weather that is not sunny and you like the beach, cali-s for you! U mentioned vegas, I think it would be kind of cool to live in Las Vegas for about the first six months, then you-d be packing again and gettin outta there.......

The best place to live? Not Minnesota. Duluth and the North Shore in the fall is beautiful, but that-s it.

    Not Boston

Southern California, and if anyone tells you differently, they-re idiots.
    • Jan 07, 2005 4:22:41 pm
I-ll tell you differently... Seattle, Washington. It doesn-t rain here as often as you might think!

Are there specific qualities ur looking for in a city? Cali is pretty nice and has so many cultures living in proximity to one another, relatively warm n nice weather while being close to beaches, white-water rafting, snow, gambling, and so many national parks! However it prolly has the most expensive gas and housing, high crime, and the tightest environmental laws of the country.

Hmmmm....ideally:I wanna live in the suburbs, not far from the city.I liked Vegas bc it was pretty I hate horrific traffic (ie DC rush hour)I did grow up on the water...but it doesn-t have to be the oceanDecent living...not too expensiveObviously low crime lol...but thats gonna be a problem everywhereWeather? well lets just say I have seen it all living here... tornados, hurricanes, flooding, rain, snow (yes lots lol), humidity, hot, cold.....We get it all....no real preference...I just wanted some opinions from you guys Keep em comming!

where there goes L.A. but still, those aside, 15-20 miles outside of Los Angeles seems to be your best bet. Actually, 15-20 miles East. North/South of that have their own congestion, and the inland area of L.A. seems to be moving more and more east within the last few years. and to the seattle dude: you gotta be kidding.

Well not saying that Lexington, KY is THE place to live, but I like it. It-s the big little city. A population of 250,000, but feels like 50,000. Absolutely beautiful horse farms, Keenland race track, University of Kentucky is here so there is alot of events, and night life for 20 somethings. Land values are decent (won-t pay a quarter of a million for a 3 bedroom house *cough* Southern Cal.)

I-ve lived in Aurora, Colorado (where I was born)- Jamestown & Indianapolis, Indiana - Arlington, Texas - and Grove City & Galloway, Ohio. In that order, with a few years back in Colorado after Texas and before Ohio.I would still love to move back to Aurora, Colorado someday and still think of it as -home-. Everything is so much more spread out than in Ohio. Every place else seems so congested in comparison. The streets in Colorado suburbs seem bigger and you-re never more than a few minutes away from a big park, bike trail or just wide open area. You can see the mountains in the horizon wherever you are. From far away they look blue, just darker than the sky. Damn, I-m getting all misty... J/K, but I do miss Colorado.

Where to live? Hmmm....That is the question, and one of the most difficult to figure out. I have traveled all over the US and enjoy many different cities. My wife and I also want to find the -ideal- place to live, and have no clue. We don-t want to stay here (Fort Oglethorpe, GA near Chattanooga TN). I too need the answer. I really tend to like the places that I currently don-t live and think that most people are the same. You know the saying -the grass is always greener.... Anyway as far as states/cities that I like(d).......Seattle, Boston, Colorado, I also like cold weather such as Vermont. I know, too much typing and not much helping.

jersey pride, slut.nyc is only a few minutes away, and we got brick city (newark) and camden, haha. prolly want to stay away from those two tho unless you want to get jumped or somethin. but seriously, jersey is pretty good. the shore is nice in the summer, at least its alot better than it was. got all kinds of weather. was 50 a week ago and around 15 yesterday w/ snow and ice, so it keeps you on your toes. actually, i-m lying, i can-t wait to move the hell out.

Doesn-t matter to me as long as its not too far North...I-m looking into moving to Kansas, it will probably happen.

I wasn-t kidding actually...Not necessarily inside of Seattle... I wouldn-t live there myself. The suburbs are nice, its a short trip to anywhere. The city is beautiful. There-s no state income tax. In the summer, it doesn-t get too hot. In the winter, it doesn-t get too cold. The environment is good. Crime is low in the suburbs. Seattle is the fittest city in america where gyms and sporting goods stores outnumber fast food restaurants. It-s beautiful and not over populated. You-ve got the puget sound to the west and the mountains to the east and its all near by. People are friendly and life is laid back.Different opinion does not equal idiocy.

Props to mystro!! That is THE MOST mature response to somewhat of a -jackass- remark I have ever seen. lol, but seriously. After that, I found myself considering a relocation. haha

Ha! Thanks bofett, you can come up and help me figure out what to do to my car and how to do it. :? Just wasn-t gonna let the thread die because of a fear of being called an idiot. Seriously though... what I love about Washington is that everything is so incredibly laid back and the people are friendly. I-m not gonna lie about the traffic as it can get pretty bad at times but you won-t find people flipping other people off and honking their horns at each other all the time when someone merely gets on the freeway to merge. In fact, you-re likely to have some one slow down to let you in rather than speed up to cut you off. It-s not perfect here but I-ve never been anywhere that was. It-s just nice to be able to walk down a street and have complete strangers smile and say hello to you just because.

Seattle would be cool. I LOVE rain but after growing up in cali, I really don-t know how I would deal with REAL weather......hehe I suppose I could take an extended vacation sometime and see how I like it. Here-s the clincher.........what are the emissions and firearms laws like up there? hehe..........cars and guns......*sigh* sounds so pathetic..........but those are some of the reasons I want outta cali.
