first of all I hope the title is ok I could not think of a more appropriate title.

ok I bought my tc used about 3 months ago and i love it but i started hearing a squeak noise from my frontend so i brought it in and it was raining out, they said they could not hear the noise due to the rain so i brought it back today and just as i suspected i need new struts and mounts. I figured it was under warranty because when i bought it the guy said that all I needed to do was basicly change my oil and the rest was covered (that was the way he put it) so they called it in and when they called me later tonight and said it was not covered under warranty I was surprised. He told me that i only had a basic drivetrain waranty. but wether its under waranty or not i have only had this car for 3 months do i have any hope of fighting theese guys considering that it was a certified pre owned car. I know i diddnt wear out the struts in 3 months. any suggestions? I am sorry if this is in the wrong catagory or just an overall stupid question i just dont know anyone who could help me with this.

Well I can tell you since You bought the car "Used"...

The dealership has their Own Warranty....That only covers Powertrain etc...NOT suspension parts.

So basically U got sorta screwed becuz the dealership warranty should state what it covers & what it doesnt cover...

I went through the same deal a couple weeks ago when my G/F bought a used car!...it was ALL in the fine print!

Good Luck on w/e you do!..

You wanna be a real a'hole talk to the general manager of the dealership, you'd be surprised what a reaction you could get, if someone knows they will lose a customer to there service dept. and the dealership all together. Sales on cars are difficult right now, I have 3 friends that have lost their jobs selling cars since 2008. If the gm wont do anything, find out if the dealership is corporate owned and get in contact w/ them. The GM from the nissan dlr I worked got canned 'cuz he did nothing 'bout complaints he got about his service dept.

Very true. The dealship I used to work for was the same way. You have to remember that a dealership makes their money mainly three ways service, parts, and finance. If you purchased the vehicle there and threaten to never go there for service again because you are disgruntled and because you were informed something different at the time of purchase, usually that will be enough to make the GM do something. He may try to fight it and find another way to make you happy but you need to be firm. The GM will be worried that one they will be losing you as a customer but also that you are gonna tell many people not to go to that dealership and they could potentionally lose a lot of business that they could have recieved. But also realize that "wearable parts" like suspension are not covered under warranty. Many people think that everything is covered and that is not the case. Let this be a learning lesson that you need to always read the fine print and do a little research. Never take a saleman's word for anything. If you had a question about the warranty at the time of purchase, then you should have talked to the service department to find out exactly what is covered before you signed the dotted line. Dealerships can be very sneaky and the word track that they use is designed to make you feel like you are getting when you want when infact, you are not.

Ok this is a hard situation to deal with because you don't have an extended warranty..But this is what I did when my dealership tried to charge me for a diagnostic $390 (just to check the car)!! I went to to the scion website and found a link to SCION CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE and actually wrote to scion corporate and told them my car spends more time at the dealership then me actually driving it and how there charging me $390 for a diagnostic and if they don't do something about it I'm going to get a lawyer, etc.

I was then given a case number and was called a couple days later, I then explained to the Scion rep. what the deal was and then he said he'll contact me within 24 hours..I was called later that day by the dealership and told that they wanted me to get me a car rental and that they'll pay for it and the next day my car was magically finished very quickly and was told I didn't have to pay the $390 anymore..

(Now I'm not sure it will help you in your situation since I'm not to sure you have an extended warranty but its worth a shot i guess) good luck!

Hey everyone I know its been a while since I started this thread but I have news now. After reading your responses I knew it could go either way so I wrote the dealership a leter stating my problem and such. about a week goes by and then i get a call from the service manager and he wants to take another look at it. I had it in this morning and they told me an hour later that the parts were ordered and asked me when I wanted to do it. I asked what was the deal with the payment or waranty and he said that they were taking care of it. I am having it done this afternoon and im so happy that i decided to persue the dealership instead of just dealing with it. Thank you for all your responses they saved me about $1000.
