i just installed my injen cai and after driving it with the windows down, i can hear a lot of hissing and it sounds niice. i know thats not an unusual noise for cai's but i just wanted to make sure it's normal for tC's to have that much hissing and that its not an air leak anywhere.

check the engine bay again...there could be a snake in there.

yes thats normal for a CAI...but it could also be a very bad exhaust leak

If it's like a whistling type sound when you give it some gas, then it's normal. The TB actually is designed to make that sort of sound. It's just the air passing the TB butterfly.

lol ive been checkin up on it and so far no snakes rimjay and the everything else on the car is stock and workin fine so i guess that rules out the exhaust leak. phew. as for the sound itself, it's high pitched like a high whistle as Web said. my friends told me its normal and i figured as much but i just wanted to check with u guys just to make sure

that is the sound of the CAI...it's supposed to make that sound...i think it's more of a sucking sound from the tube at the filter.

The hissing is coming from your hamster. Chances are that it doesn't like all the increased air flow going into the engine and it's hissing at you :o

No need to take the bumper off, just take the splash guard off on the driver's side with the tire.

I find taking the bumper off to be less of a hassle than just taking the splash guard off :o

just getting that last pipe through that little gap by the fender is the hardest part... but you dont need to take off the bumper

You need to take the bumper off to screw in the CAI pipe to the body. But yea, the CAI pipe is a bitch to slide into the fender.

No you don't. I didn't have to with my K&N or the Injen I installed. Just pop the 3 plastic pins off the driver's side corner bumper along with the splash guard and that's plenty of room...try it when you clean the filter.

No need for the extra work of taking the whole thing off.

Yeah, i'm at 35953 and haven't cleaned it yet . Will do that when I get my exhaust paint and take the heat wrap off to paint the intake pipe along with the header and exhaust.

believe it or not, i've seen it happen. theres a pic of it online, a big ass snake got wrapped up in some belts and mashed up..

haha, but, seriously doubt u got a snake in there. i would bet your connection/flange at the tb is loose. seeing as how that is closest to the manifold and has the greatest vaccuum pressure, that could account for why you are hearing a hissing sound.

unfortuately, you're the only one who can actually inspect your engine bay to find out for sure... good luck.
