different cultures.........a lot of cultural differences are looked negatively to Americans. It's just another country/culture.........we have no right to judge.

Opinions are ok, but when people go over to countries like that and tell them that what they have been doing for hundreds/thousands of years is wrong, then that's where Americans look bad.

I agree that this is not something I would condone but.....since I don't live there, that's all I can say.

Ah I see.. Well, it's not like we run around chasing dogs with forks and knives in our hands. It is a culture thing as Web said, most of us pinoys prefer a hot juicy steak over a bowl of pulled bbq dog meat slow cooked to juicy tender perfection -smacks lips- But going back to the culture thing, Cows weren't as common as dogs back in the day in the Philippines (which still rings true today) and people had to make do with what they had to survive. Even if it meant smacking Fido over the head with a mallet and deep frying him. And yea, I find it kinda offensive and a tad bit annoying when people comment on how sick our culture is for eating dogs. Let's have a little gourmet session on different cultures eating habits. Hrmm.. Chinese people eat tiger penises and other unusual animal body parts, Vietnamese and French enjoy partaking in fried or steamed frogs' legs, irish people have their wonderful and quite hearty haggis (sp?), balinesians enjoy eating a live beating snake heart with their wine(or was it the vietnamese?) and white people have their pickled pigs' feet, pickled pigs' ears, pickled pigs'etc.

Now, if you have never tried these fabulous gourmet items before, you might be thinking "owtf? that's disgusting! I feel like pooping myself" But yea, it's just a matter of culture and taste that keeps these wonderful foods alive. It just urks me how eating a particular animal or animal part seems so shocking that it feels immoral

It's true..........I've eaten tCs before..............tCs around my area don't like me........

hahha, jp...............but I doubt that would work unless you had JUST eaten the meat......about 1 week after you eat something (sooner in most cases), the food is completely passed through you and burnt up as energy.

K, I finally watched that vid. But I don't see how that's any different from American's making their dogs go through those weird obstacle courses in those dog shows they show on TV

Change the title please because its bias towards filipinos. this is not only in the flip culture.... dog eating, no not just asians eat dogs, there are other cultures too. sorry just reading the topic of pisses me off. I know family in philippines that do this, and it isnt animal cruelty. this is just training for the dog or w/e and the dogs care about that trainer and family too. the thing that isnt right is the training of pitbulls. when trainers hit them and etc. just try to change this topic title to. Pitbull pulling weights or something. making filipino culture look bad, and creating more stereotypes towards us.

If prepared the right way, dog meat can be extremely delicious Its texture is a bit rougher than pork but it tastes like chicken

haha, first off, it isn't even about "eating dogs"!!!!

2nd, the TITLE of the VID is "Phillipino something something..." its not like i just pulled it out of the air, or guessed what ethnicity they were based on how they were treating the dogs.

see, this is what i refer to as the negative side of political correctness. So, to be "pc" we are supposed to ignore the fact that this seems to be a commonly accepted practice in phillipino culture??? thats just like how its chaos at every airport in america now because every 40 year old white guy is getting body-cavity searched to be "pc" so that the airport officials aren't racially profiling arab muslims.

I KNOW this practice isn't "normal for pit owners", because i KNOW plenty of pit owners who don't do this... i don't know any phillipino pit owners however.

lets end the witch hunt now. I don't defend the mafia when they make a hit, or the IRA when they blow up a bunch of people. please view incidents like this objectively. its not an attack on the entire race of people, just a small concentration of "bad seeds". every race has them. if it was a bunch of white people doing that, i would say the same thing.

Yea I dropped the ball on that whole "dog eating" thing. I didn't watch the vid and assumed it was about dog eating, since that's probably the biggest stereotype about us filipinos. I don't find anything wrong with making dogs pull things though, but my complaint is why this dog sled-pulling thing is so bad? People in the states pay bums to fight each other to a bloody pulp for a 20.
"Oh lordy, stop abusing those poor pitbulls you evil people"
"Hey, wanna pay these bums 10 bucks each to fight each other?"
"w00t I am SO down for that!"
Like del said, don't generalize people's race just because there are a few bad people doing stupid shit.

yeah, this video didn't look like the dogs were being hurt at all. I would say that this is a Phillipino knock off of the american dog shows we have. In both, the dogs aren't harmed, they show off for the crowd and the people have a good time. I'd much rather go see this though b/c those pits are strong....that brown/white one was a beast!
