I did this about a week ago and the possibilities aren't just limited to the dead pedal.

This whole project cost me about 9 bucks. I went to Home Depot and got a roll of aluminum flashing and some flat head screws.

It matches really well with the OBX pedals.

all for $9? Thats awesome. Hey, maybe it'd be cool if you drilled maybe a few holes in the aluminum so some of the black can be seen through it.

not a bad idea, I'd have some more grip too. I'll give it a try.

The top part of the dead pedal looks like you might cut yourself though.. The metal at the top looks pretty sharp and isn't backed by the foot rest :o

Not sure if this would look good but how about having a very subtle pattern of screws (painted black) going across the pedal to become your grip? Give it a real mechanical, robot type look.

Transformers!

it looks sharper than it really is, I rounded the edges and smoothed out everything so I could rub my hand across it with no scrapes or anything.

I really wanted to have rubber grips, but I wasn't sure how to get them to stay without looking tacky.

Yeah, but metal is so much more aggressive.

Thats a good idea. If you can find black rubber rivets, then screw em in from behind the footrest (along with a little superglue for reinforcement).

Ya'll have some good ideas. I do like the aggressive look of all metal, its what I was going for.

nice, you just gave me an idea for making myself a heat shield...looks really really good though for 9 bucks...

^remember, thin aluminum siding will absorb heat REALLY QUICK........it won't deter the heat as much as absorb it and heat the air around the filter. (if that's where your heat shield is going)

Since aluminum is pretty inexpensive, maybe you could heat wrap the shield.
