Would you rather have the hood and a suspended licence, or a licence and freedom?

uhmm.. ok.. you got caught....

what are you complaining about? sounds to me more like whining... you pay the price for breakin' the law...

you want advice? stop breaking the law.

jeez you aint got to be rude about it. Why should he stop doing something he finds fun just because other people hate it when he does?

it's not that anyone hates it.. it's just something you deal with when you do stuff to your vehicle that's not defined as legal.

a risk.... he got caught.... that's pretty much it.

he got caught.. he's gonna have to deal with the consequences... i didn't say anything about hating..

You made it seem as though just because he broke the law and was asking for advice that he should stop doing what he does. If he stops doing that then what seperates him from any other driver on the road?

I'd just pay the fines for the speeding ticket but I'd fight the exhaust ticket

you wanna know why he should stop?? this is why

im sick and tired of people saying they have fun speeding, and then stuff like this happens all the time, seriously man, the laws are there for a reason, you need more persuasive pictures?? i got more, i work with salvaged cars everyday, i see cars all the time, torn in half, rolled over, blood stained, these things are toys, yes, but they are deadly toys and you should use with care!!!

Being that it's your fault for speeding, the speeding ticket is money you just wasted for your own pleasure....that's just plain and simple.

About the "engine noise" thing, check with smog laws and noise violations around your state. MO may have stict modification laws just like Cali.

Good luck.

as long as you pass emissions/inspection there should be no issue with your exhaust.

what about all the damn diesel trucks and buses all over the friggin place???!! those things are WAY louder than any 4 cylinder car could be.

just tell the judge your stock exhaust rusted out or broke, so you replaced it with a nicer, cheaper aftermarket one.

^Yeah, but those trucks are built like that from OEM standards. It all comes down to the class of the vehicle itself. Every class of vehicle is allowed a certain leway on different aspects of the vehicle itself. Trucks, for instance, are allowed to be taller than family sedans. It's just b/c trucks are in a hauling/loading class and family sedans are in a family/passenger car class.

Kind of how HIDs are illegal on ANY car that doesn't come with them stock. OEM standards will determine final judgement by law.

It's just mind bottling how cops get their panties all up in a bunch when cars have loud exhaust systems but they wave and smile at harleys when they pass by. Those suckers are OBNOXIOUSLY loud!

^bottling???....

Must have watched Blades of Glory.......

it's "boggling" if you're trying to describe confusion....

Yeah, Harleys and all bikes running open headers can be a pain. They will pull them over too sometimes but it's rare. You can usually tell when a bike has an aftermarket exhaust setup though. If it gets to be TOO obnoxious, they can fine the person a repair ticket . But if the exhaust is stock, then they can't do shit.

but do u really think that would hold up in court?? like if you got a ticket for having HID's, when there are vehicles that come stock with HID's, i would imagine you could find a good lawyer to take that case and fight it.

and as far as the engine noise issue... "louder" is a relative term. how do they know how loud (in decibels) your stock exhaust was, versus how loud the aftermarket one is? to say it is "louder" they would have have to have (yeah i know) heard your stock exhaust.

Plus, tc's have an optional supercharger, does that mean, if you install the s/c yourself, then your are "making your engine louder" and breaking a law, but if its dealer installed, then it is OEM, so its okay?? thats BS. you can easily fight that.

Yea you know, when you get your thoughts all wrapped up like in a bottle? :o I'm tired of these double standards on vehicles.. Cops will pull over import cars with aftermarket stuff but when it comes to domestics/muscle cars/harleys, they just turn a blind eye to them

Oh, you can fight all of this, yes...............but that's not gonna stop them from ruining your day with a damn repair ticket or fine. If they REALLY wanted to bust your balls in court, they'd go through the trouble of getting factory reports out on stock vehicles specs/decibels and then compare that against a reading from your vehicle. BUT, that's above and beyond what I'm sure any court will want to do.

But, the HID thing can easily be fined. A few guys around my area have had their HIDs removed due to repair orders. Granted, they get them installed the day after the court date again, but they're just wasting their money.

Yeah, states have slightly different sound ordinances for vehicles but that sounds pretty close.

well yeah, HID's are a waste of money in the first place... who cares how brite your headlites are???

and 2ndly, HID's are more of a nuisance/dangerous on the roads than are loud exhausts. i HATE getting tailed or approaching oncoming cars that have HIDS.

Me .........believe me.......once you get them and compare them to how dim normal lights are, you will change your tone. Especially for mountain/back road driving..........they are just the best.
