Umm.....Weapon R is an intake. What are you asking?

Is a short ram intake (SRI) better than a cold air intake (CAI)?

If so, it all depends on what you're looking for. SRIs will give you more of a low to mid rpm range of power. CAIs will give you a mid to high rpm range of power. BUT DON'T EXPECT A BOOST OF POWER...for our car you can expect about 5-9 whp OVERALL.

Weapon R has been known to cut down on low end torque A LOT and make the car feel like it's bogging from the start. CAIs cause a slight bog at the beginning but not as much as Weapon R. Mugetsu, another user on here, has the Weapon R with the ram air setup and I believe that helped it out a bit.

CAIs tend to give you slightly better mpg also. With mine when I first got it, I noticed about 1-2 mpg more. But, it really depends on what you want.....I prefer CAIs b/c they are suited for the driving that I do (more highway and higher speed).

Complaining is futile when you supported the victory.

very true, i have a custom short ram and at times i felt a somewhat rough idle, i added a custom ram-air conversion and it picked up a bit including less bogging off the start...cold-air is best but it's also dangerous during rain and sand and/or dusty areas, which is why i choose to play it safe with a custom short-ram and a heat shield..

i dont think that anything dangerous like that will happen to you in so-cal...

Hydrolock is something that can happen to any intake, but CAIs are more suceptible to it. It doesn't have to be direct water contact to the filter but just water not being able to evaporate off of the filter element. Hydro shields help with this and just normal maintenance.
