I love this fluid! It gives me nice and smooth shifting. As compared to Redline MT90, Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle
Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4 (MTG)
is a bit smoother and seems to have more lubricity even to the touch. I took it out for about a 10 mile test drive and did some back road, constant shifting, driving and then some highway....to finish it off, i came down a straight backroad and gunned it. The shifting was positive, smooth and very firm.

Interval recommendation is every 25-30K miles

I recommend this fluid. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/mtg.aspx?zo=401037

Review 2:
Ok, I drove in about 10 miles of traffic to work today, and those were stop and go. Compared to MT90, this fluid is much more lubricating. The shifter slid into gear much easier and was very positive. So far so good .....I recommend it

Have you noticed any excess gear noise? Mobil 1 is not compatible with our GL4 fluid. A LOT of people on SL have complained about Mobil 1 gear oil and switched within a few thousand miles to Redline MT90.

Great information. How often does gear oil need to be changed?

Yup, MT90. The amsoil is a bit smoother.

can you explain this a little more. Smoother engagement, smoother rev matching, downshifting, upshifting

Yeah....When the car is off, everyone knows we can put it in gear. Well, with MT90, you could do that but it felt a bit more mechanical. With the amsoil, the gears just slid in place. And I tried it at different times when the car was off, not just in the same spot.

While driving, I notied a BIG difference in 4th and 5th. Those gears definately were chosen much more smoothly by the shaft. 1st-3rd were a bit smoother in upshifting and a good bit smoother in downshifting.

Normal downshifting from 5th-3rd is what I usually do and with the Amsoil, I can feel A SLIGHTLY more lubricating action to slide the shifter into gear. It's nothing huge, but I can notice a slightly easier push into 3rd than with the MT90.

All and all, both MT90 and Amsoil are great oils. If I didn't find this Amsoil product, I would have bought another 3 quarts of Redline MT90. But, since I did find this, I am glad I switched.

Yesterday, in heavy traffic going to and from work, I could tell it was much smoother up/downshifting. I wasn't worrying as much about getting it in gear rather than paying attention to the car in front/behind me.

Hope the helps InLikeFlint and everyone else.

Transmission is still nice and smooth and engagement is the same.........gears feel very positive.

It's been sitting in my garage for 2 days, but for the 4K that i've driven it so far, it's nice

Finally got to make the swap this weekend and i must say what an amazing difference in smoothness of shifting! Also this was an extremely easy job....other than the 95 degree heat i was dealing with...this was a quick and painless swap....Thanks again!

Jack it up to drain it, lower it to refill it....just make sure it's on a pretty level driveway.

Web ... have you tried Royal Purple? I plan to swap the fluid to either the RP or Amsoil in another 8k, but I'd like to see a comparison between the 2 first. If not here, I may find it somewhere else.

Royal purple, some people like it, but it uses graphite as it's "buffer" for lubrication. Graphite does not get flushed out completely and begins to build up into hard deposits and can ruin internals later on. I stay away from it.

^^Absolutely! Graphite is one of the worst things you can put in an engine. That's what a lot of those as seen on tv miracle lubes use. Sure its lubrication properties are 2nd none, but it will ruin your engine over time. Stay away from anything that has grphite in it if you want your motor to last.
