Today, I witnessed the power of the claybar. It's not a gimmick and if you don't use it on your paint, you're missing out.

Here's how I wash my car...

Get the car soaked and wet, then use a wash & wax with a mircrofiber sponge.

I like Blue Coral because the water dries as a sheet and it really doesn't require a whole lot of work to get the car dry with minimal spotting.

Sponge and suds the car one section at a time and rinse and repeat at least once to get the dirt off.

If you have a lot of water on the car, use a water blade (looks like a squeegee) wipe off excess water with a microfiber drying cloth.

When the car is dry, use Meguiars Quick Detailing Spray to moisten in preparation for a clay bar.

If you think you did a good job cleaning the car, think again.. The clay will reveal things your eye didn't catch. Pollen, tar, bug guts and microscopic dirt particles.

After you have used the clay, spray a little more quick detail spray and wipe with the micro cloth, it WILL feel like glass. The clay actually got tar off my rear bumper and side doors with no chemicals.

Waxing after the clay bar would be a good idea because the best time to apply wax is when your car is at it's cleanest.

Finally I finish off with some glass cleaner that has no amonia like

You can use the clay on glass with amonia free glass cleaner, afterwards, you must wipe it with a clean cloth and a little more glass cleaner. The clay gets rid of water spots and tree sap.

I finished the job with Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Spray and my car looked like it rolled off the showroom floor.

Follow these steps and post your great results. Enjoy.

The clay acts like a sponge, it doesn't go onto your car. Imagine it as a wiper blade that sucks in impurities.

This pic was taken from an RSX forum. It shows what the claybar has removed after the car was washed.

the blade doesnt scratch your paint? i was checking that out and bought the absorber instead. but that seems to be alot easier.

nah the blade doesnt scratch your paint... well at least the California blades dont... but usually i just use the blade to get most of the water off... then go over again with a chamois... the blade definatly cuts a lot of time off... and clay bar is the shizz... just havent done it on my car yet... prolly next week

People can wash their cars however they want, but I thought I'd share how I'd do it.

A lot of this is information you've shared with me Web, I'm a claybar believer.

haha.....

Waxing will be another portion maybe....I just don't have time to write one up. I wish my total time took 2 hours ....

My full wash/dry/clay/wax takes about 5 on a good day .....gotta get it sparklin' sometimes ya know?

Yeah bro, it annoys me sometimes.... ...........I won't leave the car with any water spot and I'll hand rub the wax into the paint. Heat from your hand will help the wax work a bit better....just like an orbital if you don't have one . The heat activates the chemicals in the wax.

See? You can make a writeup on waxing. Just take an hour away from something like....waxing

I toss mine after about 3x use, you have to remeber that everything that it picks up stays in the bar, the times you use it that better the chance that you will scar the clear coat with the accumlated debris

It might be time for me to replace mine before my 1st good wash/wax of the season. Might get that next week when it warms up a bit.
