what is the thickness on the vinal you're using to change the colors w/ a white led swap, and where would be a good place to get it?

I would think something around 1mm b/c headlight vinyl is around 3mm thick. Any vinyl shop/tint shop should be able to get you some.

im just guessing, but isn't there an issue of putting miles on your car while the gauges are removed, something to do with the internal computer mileage counter????

CEL will come on after you drive the car without gauges.

and no mileage will be accounted for.

if I can't find a good price on someone to do LED swap for me, I'll have to really study a DIY guide and buy a soldering iron.

on the flip side, I can do it for other people when I learn.

if you have the materials and equipment, i see why not.

just don't break anything. the hvac lcd is the most common thing people break.

fixing that requires purchase of a whole new hvac.. prices range from $50-300 for those junkyard-new

yea the hvac LCD is the most commonly broken thing. Also watch out for when you remove the needles, not to take them out to harshly. I used 2 spoons, put them under each side of the needled and slowly pried them up. Other than that, as long as you have the tools and the LED diagram you should be fine. Start with the gauges first to get a hang of it them move on to the HVAC.

Try not to drive your car… Your RPM will be off and you will have lots of backfire and flames if you’re modified. CEL Speedo check is off when you remove your gauges.

A spare gauge will stop the cel from coming on. You should be fine with a loaner gauge, but your mileage will be off when you get the swapped one back.

Also, I know this really doesn't matter to this post, but an auto cluster works just fine in a manual cluster...

You gotta make small circuit board with LED and install it on the base of the needle..
You'll need 2-3 LED depends on the which needle you are useing..
Just intall two different color LED on the PCB...
Then wire it to the ciruit board of the gauge cluster for power...
