Finally after what seemed like forever, my k2motors shifter came in! Right now my shift console is all disassembled and i'm reading up on how to remove the stock shifter. I'll definitely let you guys know how it looks and feels when it's all in! Thanks Mugetsu.. i was surprised by how big the shipping box was. xD

yeah the f@#$er at the post was like "thats going out of the country, you can't just send a naked box like that." so i tell him "ok wrap it up in some of that nice brown shipping paper you guy's have" he tells me "we don' have that paper thats ups". so i had to buy that big a$$ box for 1.75, but i got them back i used another box as shipping pack and a lil news paper and only paid for the big box HA!

enjoy!

All i can say is godDAMN these shifter cables.. i was turning the lock thing 180 degrees like it said but i wasnt sure what to pull out.. The process probably would've taken 20 minutes if it weren't for the cables

Yeah, those are the hardest parts of the install. If you trim the U housings they slide into, they will go in much easier.

I'd already done that for his assembly, the prob is that you really gotta turn them more like 720 but some times the stock assembly is to tight and you think you'v turned them as much as you can but you still got a few more turns to go... brutal...

Alright, after a test run and a few victory beers I can say that my short-shifter is IN!!!! WHOOOHOO!!!
it took me about 2 hours. It should've taken 30 minutes but some set backs occured.. Mugetsu.. i'm regretting not remembering your advice about taping up those holes. one of the base bushings fell inside it!! but dont worry, with alittle mcguyver'ing i manage to fashion myself a retrieval device that consisted of a zip-tie and a magnet.. and after an hour and a half of dropping f bombs and sore fingers i managed to fish that MOTHERFUCKER out!! I then proceeded to tape over the holes and went along my way with the install.. while trying to put the shifter cables back in i noticed that the one on the right did NOT want to turn at all.. it took me a few minutes and a pack of cigz to realize that it may have been stuck.. so i grabbed my screwdriver and jerked the lock forward alittle and it started turning and finally got the shift cables in and finished putting it in (Mind you that I left the console part with the armrest on during 90 percent of the install because I didn't have an socket extension long enough. that's when i had to mcguyver myself another contraption consisting of: a big wrench, a socket and its extention)

Anyways, onto the test drive...
ZOMG DOES IT MAKE A FUCKING DIFFERENCE!!! shifting in it compared to the oem shifter is nearly a night and day difference. the shifts feel mere solid and the throws are reduced nearly by half! I noticed that it takes more effort to shift through the gears but the overall feel of it is definitely worth the money. Best bang for the buck next to lowering springs imho EVERYONE GET A SHORT SHIFTER NOW!!!
btw.. learn from my mistakes and tape over those huge gaping holes.. you'll see 'em when you take the stock assembly off.. you'll save yourself alot of time and alot of cigarettes..

vicious look into a "weighted knob" that looks good to your tastes,
it'll make shifting much smoother and easier. i suggest any where from
360 to 420grams

a few brands

RAZO
GREDDY
TWM (expensive)
Sparco (pricy)

Yup.. I like the metal base bushings it comes with too. Compared to the crappy rubber ones the oem assembly has, the metal bushings make the shifts feel much more solid! Yea I'll get a weighted knob soon.. sparco and twm are very nice knobs, but i think i'll go with the greddy one for now. (80 bucks for a TWM shift knob? come on..) I know their quality is top notch but I don't need a 80 dollar shift knob at the moment..

the install was pretty easy now that i look back on it.. If I had removed all of the console from the beginning I would've finished much faster. but read my post above for the whole installation process.. I'm telling ya, if I can install a short-shifter then anyone can! I was worried about the shifter height not being short enough for me, but the height is perfect. I need to get a leather shift boot now though cuz when i shift into first, fifth and reverse the boot makes a squeaking noise

you might not have to once you get a new knob, the OEM one is very long and mushes the boot down alot.

Shorter shift throw for engaging each gear means you will have more positive shifting and not much playing around to misshift. Stock has a lot of play in the shifter rod as compared to the after market SS, so you have a higher chance of misshift with the stock setup.

Yeah, it all depends on the amount of work you want to do. Fidanza, TWM, B&M, CC, Arc are all shafts.

K2 and TRD come with it all preassembled and ready to just mount in.

I personally prefer k2motors because it comes with its own assembly and metal base bushings
