that looks like that would take a expert to do, they did a very awsome job on cutting and extending the radio door, thats what your talking about right?

im an idiot, just went out to my car and took a really hard look at my radio..... the door isn-t extended at all in the pic, i think that stereo will slide right in without any problems, except to mount it without it hitting the door(when shut) but those forums showing install show how to position the stereo to avoid that problemabout my last post... im such an idiot EDIT: and the measurement 7- is diagonally its will fit nicly if you ask me

hmm I don-t have a tC but at glancing at the pictures it looks like it isn-t that hard to do but requires some time and maybe even some modifying to small parts. I suggest you take a good look again and try to test fit it yourself. If your not handy or good at this just bring it to a shop.

Actually that-s my photo album There-s nothing special about the install, noting was modified but the mounting brackets. The stock radio door fits fine, but it doesn-t push in as far as it did with the stock radio. This means that you need to develop the -tap to open- technique cuz there-s not as much door movement. There is a photo on the site that shows how to modify the bracket.

Thanks Scionadmin! One (of the many) good things about this car is the flexability one has with such a large, covered radio bay. The AVN2454 is a nice unit and overall pretty easy to install thanks to the connectors being the same as the stock Scion harness, Almost a plug-n-play.

Anybody know why that unit wants a signal hooked up to the Reverse lights? I understand the signal from the parking brake. Also, does this unit already come with the NAV package or does it require additional parts? Thanks.

i think it wants it hooked up to the reverse lights, so if u have a camera when you back up it automatically goes to that video feed. And i believe that model comes with DVD nav disks. but not positive.

The unit has reverse signal wiring because it-s for the Nav unit, it-s letting the unit know you are in reverse and not going forward, The nav guy would not be accurate too if you don-t install the cable. The AVN2454 does come with a 8.5GB DVD that contains entire US maps and Canada. One thing you might want to know is AVN2454 is a 4 channel system so if you think about doing 5.1 sound in the car, you will need the AVX series which is a true 5.1 surround system. As for backup camera Eclipseonly has a -Back eye- camera where it is manually switch on by the driver when you want to, it is not a -back up camera- where the video auto feeds when the car is in reverse !!! I know since I have both unit the AVN2454 and BEC103. You can install other brand like Pioneer where it-s a true backup camera ( you might need additional hardware to install that though, I am not sure ) Hope this make sense for you.

sorry I don-t know, I did have to get my buddy to custom fabricate2 side panels for the eclipse so that the unit fits in snugly. Since the Pioneer deck is so much wider than the eclipse. Check on the product-s website and get the dimensions.

The retail MSRP for AVN2454 is $2999, most fine electronic eclipse retailer may sale it for 2299. I got mine at Good Guys for $2000 installedso basically $1800 for the unit, $200 installation because there are a number of sensors that need to be installed on the car in order to get the full use out of the nav system.

If you are referring to the Eclipse AVN2454, YES it is a VERY GOOD brand and highly recommended. Eclipse is a higher end market brand, and their product speaks for it. They have also introduced 2 new double-din displays at the 2005 CES Show to be released soon. I apologize I do not have the new model numbers off hand.

For retail, any major electronic store that are authorize retailersand you can register your eclipse unit for 1 year theft replacement.and warranty. For online , ebay check to see if they come with the map DVD, otherwise it-s useless but bad part is you can-t register the unit because it-s not sold from an authorize retailer and eclipse will not honor the theft protection if the unit is stolen with the 1st year. Nor will they honor the warranty with the same reason.
