nope, need auto fluid for that...this is gear oil, and although essentially they play the same role, they are in fact different fluids... |

No, autos have a pan, gasket and filter that needs to be changed (at least it is like that on every other automatic I know of). The fill should be the same but the drain involves unbolts the pan, draining the fluid, cleaning the edges and removing the old seal, removing the filter inside, putting the new filter on, putting the new seal on with a bead of silicone if needed and then torque the bolts back on in a criss cross pattern to about 25 lb/ft torque (give or take)...not too much b/c you'll pinch the pan. Only thing to keep in mind.....autos can't drain all the fluid out when the pan drops. Most of the fluid is held in the torque convertor and that can't be drained without removal of your transmission and torque convertor. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. http://clubsciontc.com/fo...-rims--5x100-pattern.html |

Happened to me last time too. If you unbolt the sensor first and then go to the bottom, when removing the drain bolt near the frame, hold it in by hand until some fluid comes out and SLOWLY back it off the hole. If not, THAT will happen ...haha....it sucked b/c like you said....only about 1/3 of the total fluid goes into your pan. I picked up some amsoil severe gear 75w90 synthetic gear oil over the weekend when I got the rest of the stuff to change my oil. I'm planning on doing the tranny this weekend, and had a quick question. When I changed my oil, I used a flushing oil first to help get the remnants of the dinosaur oil out of the car and the build up from the inferior oil's breakdown, and I was wondering if this should or could be done in the tranny as well? I did some research and found that when switching from mineral to synthetic that a flush is highly recommended, but I could find no mention of it for the tranny. Also this will be my first tranny fluid swap and I just passed 50k. Better late then never ............... ![]() ![]() ![]() Search or one of these adorable kittens WILL DIE! |

I never did a flush on mine and I've done 2 flushes so far. The first was at 30 and the last was just recently at 60. I wouldn't worry about the flush but make sure you make this a religious switch that you will continue no matter what. Transmission fluid is extremely important for proper synchro operation and lubrication. 50K is a bit high but with the new synthetic, it would be ok. I still change mine at 30 and when I do, it comes out just as clean as the new stuff going in.
