Well, for those who have the header and like it, I mean no disrespect. This is just for others thinking of what to spend money on and are looking at a header.

I just have a few quotes from an MMW sponser so...here we go.

This is directly from their website.
Quote:
MMW Stainless Steel Race Header - 2005+ tC
Our Stainless Steel Headers are completely constructed of stainless steel and then polished to a show quality finish. These headers are second to none, when it comes to WR Racing Headers. Our Flanges are CNC machined and then welded inside and out to prevent cracking. We pride ourselves on our CNC Mendrel Bent tubes which are computer welded. SPECIAL FEATURES - Lightweight Design - CNC Machined Flanges - T-304 Stainless Steel - ALL Hardware included - Limited Lifetime warranty Each one is Hand made: Please allow 1 week for delivery. IN STOCK NOW !
Includes Our CEL Light Eliminator !

This Header Makes 26HP & 24.4TQ !

Then, this is a quote off a forum in SL:
monstermotorworks wrote:
We GAINED about 15HP and 30lbs of torque from the HEADER.

We let the owner drive the car around tonight so the ecu can learn, because the more we ran it on the dyno the more it gained Hp and Tq. On some runs the car leans out and or richens up and we loose some torque at the very low end but gain alot at starting 4500rpms. So we decided to let the ecu do it;s thing and learn.

So were going to re-dyno tommorrow.

If you ask the sponsers and others who had the header installed for these "dynos," then they will tell you that the car had a pulley, intake and full exhaust on it. Well, then how can they say
Quote:

??

Just something for you all to think about before you order a header.

The price on that thing is enough for me not to get it lol, seriously
its like 600 without ship pftt... a header alone is 300 a brand name S pipe is 165 shipped...do the math. also while i like the shape of the header I dont like how its made, it looks like the runners are made of individual little pieces of tubing welded together wtf!!..

web i'm begining to think you are a MMW hater LOL...

wow that was more intense than that one time I forgot how to sit down...

i agree. The service is at best, poor. I asked the customer service for a tracking number email, and they said it was sent out. I called back 3 times to recieve it. Im not too happy with their service, but lets see how i like it once it is on.

but a 15hp gain and 30tq gain is pretty good. but still i bet that header does make more hp adn tq then anyother. you can do the intake and exhaust with diffent combos and i bet the best comes from MMW. not saying they are great cusomer service or nething but IMO i think you can get a good gain.

Actually, although it said 30 tq on the post above, I found another that said 14 tq that was just posted in a response to my complaint this morning.........

If they keep saying that this was a car that had other parts on it also (I/E), then why say "This Header Makes 26HP & 24.4TQ !"???

Sorry for the misunderstanding but the header does make 26hp and 24.4tq. In conjunction with our MMW intake and airbox, Ignition equalizer, and exhaust. The dyno below show negative numbers because the pointers are in the wrong spot.

just adding the header on a stock vehicle we gained 15hp & 14.2tq.

Any questions feel free to call me here at the office.

This is a big issue. They finally fessed up to saying what it actually produced for power, but this was also on THEIR dyno. There still is no reliable dyno or reliable numbers online about their header. Alphawerks plus an S-pipe will either be just the same hp or a few more for a lot less money.

I also asked them to change their website to reflect the actual "header/spipe" numbers and not saying that you get 26 hp from the header rather than saying it's from I/H/E/pulley.

well the aw header and an aftermarket spipe isnt too much less, the MMW header/spipe is $550 shipped, which isnt too bad of a price. Lets say the AW header is $299, an s-pipe is about $150, which is $450 plus maybe $50 shipping? just some price guesses, but the price isnt too too bad

well thats different ,it was a special deal, but at the msrp its about 150 to 200$ more than a AW/invidia combo.

the key is to do your home work and research, spend an hour or 2 on scionlife searching for any and all posts regarding the header.
for instance i'v heard of 2 cases of the MMW header cracking because the way it fits it slams against the body(around were the header and S pipe connect)during hard shifting, theres a few fixes hat have been found, I would find the best one and add an ingalls/weapon r engine dampner on top of that to be safe.

I just got a crazy deal on their intake, and have reaserched it fully,
havent installed it yet, been fully inspecting it, so far i'v found
2 aluminum burrs about the size of an small ant that i knocked out with the eraser of a pencil, next i'm gonna use a low PSI preassure washer and blast the tube through both ends then run a clean black rag through it then hook up one of those gas station dry wet vacs to
one end THEN install it. wew sounds like alot of work but for the price i got it its worth it.

well the msrp of the AW heaer is 600. and that is no spipe. bascially there isnt much diff in gains between the headers and spipes. there all are bigger pipe size just lil diff in styles. just like intakes all made the same. my opinioon thou.

Ouch, 600 is what was listed on that SL post but you can get the header easily for around 325 off many other sites.

yea theyve had problems when they first came out, since they are hand made to order, but they worked with the customers and replaced the header. With the newer versions, i havent heard of anything bad.

everyone has their own opinion, but i will make sure to post mine tommorrow after i install it and break it in.

MMW is Weapon R and Weapon R has had problems since day one. The only reason MMW was made is so hopefuly the Scion community would tie the two together and remember how badly Weapon R had treated them when they were Honda owners. Not one product from MMW hasnt had at least one issue. Stear clear of MMW and the high prices for cheap parts.

Well not everyone can be lucky like you. MMW has issues and always will. You should have sean the booth they had at SEMA it looked like 5 year olds put it together in the dark after a heavy night of drinking.
