I believe they are all the same size. If you want bigger, you would have to get it custom. If you're still running N/A, why did you want 2.5? 2.25 will help keep a bit of pressure for low end. I think if you go turbo it'll be a 2.5 pipe or bigger. Not sure about that one though.

backpressure=myth

I have 2.5" just to keep velocity and heat at lower RPMs and I'm not turbo.

Wouldn't say that with much confidence. Put a 4 inch pipe running off your header and see what you lose. Your low end torque is built up with backpressure. As you go large pipe diameters, the pressure takes longer to build up and the torque band moves further up the tach. You will lose launch speed if you go too big, but 2.5 would be the largest I would ever go without any FI.

yeah the invidia is prob what i'll end up going with.
i just could have sworn somebody made a 2.5

as far as back preasure, i'v heard you can run 3" pipe after the s pipe with no adverse effects 4 is kinda being ridiculous, i dont have my header yet so 2.5 seems good.
i got a local guy who is revered as some kind of exhaust artist, but i bet that rep carries a big price tag along with it.
i'll have to check him out and work somthing out.

thanks anyways
i might end up with invidia.

Of course, cars with engine management do not require this b/c they can adjust their A/F to dump more fuel or more air into their lower gears to compensate for any loss in pressure. A perfectly stock engine would need backpressure b/c it can't compensate the A/F mixture.

If you have engine management, which all FI should have and need, then you're ok going with whatever you want as long as it's tuned for it. Completely stock, don't just get a 2.5 inch exhaust system and think you're only going to gain from it. It'll be the opposite.

eventually my car will be fed a steady diet of NOS, from what i hear
a free flowing exhaust is one of the more important things a stock internals engine on NOS can benefit from 2.5 sounds good. I thought the stock pipe was 2.25? am i wrong?

all aftermarket spipes are 2.5 in. if they werent then y buy one b/c the stock is 2.25. i ran 2.5 in straight pipe form teh sippie back and there was no low end tq. but spipe being 2.5 is no big deal thats y u have cats and such. but if u go turbo its still 2.5 turbos arnt big enough for 3in pipig.

I just sold my stock mid, spipe and rear section today. I measured the inner diameter of the pipes and they measured out to be just under 2 inches. The stock s pipe is flared in 2 sections but the initial entrance and final exit is just under 2 inches. Mid pipe is 2 inches all the way back and same with the rear section. Unless mine is completely different from everyone else's, stock size is just under 2 inches. Maybe 1 7/8 or so.

What year is yours? I believe you about the under 2", the change to 2.5" was a huge completly different tone, and aspect. When I saw it I was in shock, very happy, but shocked.

the weird thing is that aftermarket s pipes the ones with a measured listing claim 2.25 the megan in particular. i think i'v seen the invidia listed at 2.25 too, but a guy on scion life measured it and posted 2.5 on the out side and aprox 2.4 on the inside.
the stock S pipe is probably the most pathetic badly designed peice of
(2 peice actually)crap this side of a dodge dart.
oh the invidia also claims to remove the stock cat...?

Actually its design is very good, since is for economy and silence. So they did a good job at trying to do those things.

The s-pipe doesn't have the CAT. Header has the preCAT and the main CAT is on the beginning of the mid pipe.

if i were to install a new s-pipe, would i have to disconnect the battery first so that the sensor can adjust to the new s-pipe???

Anytime you will have to disconnect or move a sensor, ALWAYS disconnect the battery.

Just FYI, the invidia pipe is 2.5" including the walls. The inner diameter is about 2.375"
