Alright guys, i've prolonged headers long enough especially with the great sale going on this forum, you could get dc's for about 205/230 shipped, that's the cheapest i've ever seen for brand new dc headers! Anyways, i've heard a lot of complaints from people with tc's running dc headers because they get a lot of rasp from them. I know in the past most headers have caused rasp in all my imports, even in my (55)bel-air i dropped headers into my 350 swap and i get kind of a back-fire noise from the exhaust. Now i know this is in part due to variables concerning my air/fuel ratio and i'm sure my carb could use some adjusting but would you guys say all headers give some rasp, especially with a complete system, s, mid and axle-back? I've also seen some new headers on ebay that claim to be ceramic coated for about 140 shipped, same dc design, would going no name brand make much of a difference as far as performance(gains) and durability(chipping and wear) are concerned? Does anyone have no name-brand headers and satisfied? thanx fellas.

HPR header............200$ autozone.............tell them you want to look up a header for your 06 or whatever year tC and they'll pull up 2. Listed under Nopi parts: Ceramic is 220 and regular is 200. Pick and install. I've had it on for 15000 and no complaints. A bit of rasp but I have a full exhaust system to but that'll be fixed friday with the addition of another resonator and spintech muffler.

Be careful with ebay headers. I am probobly going to get Alphawerks in the spring. HPR are good to start with and produce good power for what you pay. No complaints about them but just be careful what you buy.

did you but the ceramic or regular? In your opinion did it make any difference for going or not going with ceramic?

Mine's stainless..............I've never used a ceramic coated header but the only thing it does it help reduce engine bay temps by maybe 5-10 degrees...and increase exhaust gas flow but very slightly. Standard ceramic coated headers are usually sprayed and heat treated. This treatment has a tendency to crack b/c it's simplay a VHT ceramic impregnated paint. It's kind of like a powdercoating for the headers. It protects against corrosion and stuff like that, but only until it gets chipped. Then, the rust is protected and spreads through the metal under the ceramic coat. Jet coating headers is a better bet. It's similar but the chemical they use is more elastic and doesn't chip as easily.

I've heat wrapped my intake and radiator hose to keep heat from soaking into them from the header. I wouldn't recommend wrapping the header b/c it causes the metal to heat up unevenly and those hot spots weaken the integrity of the header. If water gets on the wrap, it will sit there and rust the header from underneath also. Just a few tips.
