i just installed a Megan mid and s-pipe, it's a little loud but gives a bad-ass tone to my buddy club custom exhaust, i only have one problem, my cel light came. I didn't bother to initially buy an anti-fouler because my understanding was that it's only needed if you were to run headers. However, i also stripped my original o2 sensor so i'm running one i got from my buddy, we just don't remember where we got it from or if it was working when we took it off, But it's the same toyota sensor and i don't think he'd keep something that didn't work. Now my question is does anyone know if i need an antifouler if i'm running just mid and s-pipe? The problem might not be the need for an antifouler, it could simply be the need for a good o2 sensor. And most importantly has anyone tried using an electrical o2 simulator? Any problems?

you shouldnt have to use an anti fouler thats only with the header because you are deleting the cat in the header and your ecu will make you run lean if not, yuo dont need it,

go to autozone and borrow their obdII scanner and read your code to see what it is, i think it might be your sensor, but go check it out

so that answers one of my questions but has anyone ever used an electrical o2 simulator? Do they work? Any problems?

I used the ZPI O2 sim… Did not work; I have not seen any other ones on the market.

did anything work, or are you running your car with the cel on? I found one on ebay for about 30 bucks, but you have to wire it to your line that runs from your o2 to your ecu, not really what i wanted to do, but my friend said he didn't see why it should pose any problems once installed, both mechanical or electrical.

Using an anti-fouler on second O2 sensor. My Friend has a 2003 Subaru WRX and all he did cut the wires from the O2 sensor to the ECU and place a red and green wire to the stock wiring and it turned the CEL off. The red and green wire is a O2 sim that he bought off EBay.

Anti fouler is the easiest way to do this.

ive been thourhg the same problem and the thing that causes the check engine light is the 02 sensor b/c it gets a differnet reading of air. the header had a air fuel sensor in it whcih does not change with the header. get a anti fouler and put it in and get a new sensor. guearntee the light goes away.

I'm going to delete the other thread since you reposted here. Just trying not to clutter things up. That cool?

I wouldn't buy that, its for only the drilled out piece and not both peices, it won't work.

well y do u say that it wont work. i bought mine from ebay and let me tell u that its been on for 15000 miles and there has been no mor echeck engine light. if u have a air fuel sensor in teh header(how it comes stock) and the anti fouler in the spipe with the 02 sensor in the spipe(stock also) there is no check engine light. ive persoannlly done it.

the antifouler trick will work, but it has to be the two peice. Is yours the a one piece or is it the two?

I bought it for my tc and it has worked for about 5k miles so far.
I think it is a lil bit longer that the pic shows but it is 1 peice!

I can see it possibly working if it's a bit longer and the opening is not drilled out and still the small hole. But, if it's been drilled out, it's just a matter of a few more thousand miles before the O2 sensor gets all carboned up.

so what happens when it does? i mean besides the CEL? you take it off clean? the o2 sen disconnect the batt and start over?

wow that was more intense than that one time I forgot how to sit down...

Possibly, but if the O2 sensor has too much carbon built up in it and it begins to rust a bit from condensation in the pipe itself, there's not way to clean it and you just have to replace the O2 sensor. If there are 2 antifoulers, it just allows more time before this happens. More likely to have the full life of the sensor (60-100K miles).
