Del Sol was a turbo something?! No idea what though. But the video says it all for the outcome

I think he forgot to press the gas with how bad that was...lol. Nice kill. What is your setup, profile doesn't say much. Have you taken it to the track?

GT4067 turbo, makes 463whp at 18psi on pump gas. No track times yet as every time I go it starts to rain about 1 or 2 exits before I get there. Sadly enough, I can make a small montage of me swearing to the heavens. Sucks when the nearest track is 3 hours away. I am gonna try to go again near the end of August / beginning of September to try to get some real times.

Not really a loss/win/tie story but still something to talk about...

Up comes an 08ish Honda Accord V6 auto 4 door. The light we are sitting at is staggered and my line was about 1.5 car lengths back from him. I was on the left and he was on the right going into an S-on ramp that goes left than right. Well, the light goes green and we go and I have no peel but just all pull. I make up the difference in the stagger almost immediately and into the first turn, I jump a fender. On the second turn (right hand), he had the inside with a nice shoulder to take an even sharper turn. Well, he did and then just pulled about 3 lengths on me from that huge advantage.

I have no idea how it would be in a straight away (I would assume relatively close) but in the 200 yard dash we did, he took the inside advantage and kept going. Maybe that will be a WIN for the Honda forums but who knows. He seemed like a classic driver who gets tint and audio only and thinks his car is the sh*t. I didn't like how much that car leaned my way on the last right hand turn either, since I was on the outside. Talk about needing a sway bar upgrade!

That's not exactly stock bro. And I/E on a Honda > I/E on a tC. Their motors respond to N/A mods a lot better than the tC does. Stock vs Stock, they are the same in 1/4 mile performance.

its a 25 dollar ebay intake that made no difference, even sound wise the exhaust its a vibrant muffler and resonator with 2.225" piping, nothing special. althought he does have a stage 1 clutch and 8lb flywheel. his is a 99 i believe, type sh, the 2.2 VTEC motor. shifts at 8k, vtec at 5200 so whenever he redlines a shift, it comes back down into vtec. he has beaten a g35, every 6cyl mustang badly, neck and neck with an s2k and wrx w/ exhaust. he beats tc's def. we never raced stock for stock though. they haev 200hp w/ the vtec which in the prelude is rediculous so he wins there as well

My friend who has the S/C Cobalt, his brother has a 99 Type SH Prelude. He has intake and full header back exhaust as well and lowered on springs. In a dead straight race, his car's weight comes into play against mine. They weight about 100 lbs more than our tCs and they are not really that fast. They are not slow cars, but a modded tC should be able to take the Prelude. I took him 2 times in a row and by about 3/4 car lengths each time.

With the flywheel upgrade and clutch, that gives your guy an advantage overall in shifting speed, but just remember that an 8 lb. flywheel loses revolution speed EXTREMELY fast so when he presses that clutch to shift, he drops much faster than you think. He most likely drops just below VTEC as to where the tC's stock setup will drop from 6200 to 5500 (still in peak HP range) every time.

true true, he is an amazing driver though. his older bro has a gti with intake, exhaust and tune and coilovers alone and is making 260 with 280 torque, their dad has a 69 firebird, whole family is car crazy lol. it isnt a fast car but ur right it isnt slow. BTW i am automatic so my car blows lol

jsut remembered he has dc header as well.

and when he shifts, it drops to about 5500 and he drags it out to 8k, a lot more vtec time than the tc has in peak hp. if i were 5 spd it would def be a lto closer, but he gets about 3 cars on me lol

^hahahaha....well, right there he has you in a straight away

They CAN be fast cars though but a lot of times, Honda owners just give up with them and take the engines and slap it in an old hatch and call it a day. Funny how just dropping that engine in a hatch can shave that hatch a few seconds off the quarter from their stock motors...ha

yeah old honda hatches should be retired lol, a race between a h22 with bolt ons in a prelude vs a tc then the same h22 with mods in a hatch is a whole nother story lol

Ok, so last night I was about to get onto the main highway that I take to work and there is a stoplight. It's a perfect setup for a street race, lots of people race from this point. Anyway, this hella nice black corvette pulls up next to me. We both sit there, I'm laughing because I know I'll get smoked. I watch as the lights for perpendicular traffic turn from yellow to red and I launch... 30mph... 55mph... 75mph... he keeps up with me the whole time, I can see his front to my right. I eventually decide to take it easy before I get a ticket, he was behind the whole time though. Did I win?

What does it run at the track? Street races, unless it's 3 honks and go, are iffy when it comes to victories. People will race around a corner, and then post up how they beat such and such car. Is his car gutted?

My whole point to my comment was, it's not a car that you would need F/I in a tC to beat plain and simple. His Lude is not stock as you said, so you can't compare it to a stock tC.

Also what times have you ran in your tC?

Dude...lol, that explains everything right there. A 5spd tC would put 3 cars on you too if driven right. You should have said you were auto to begin with. If you were manual, you would have a different opinion on how fast a Lude is compared to a tC.

Rule of thumb when racing...

If both parties KNOW the other is racing and there is a designated start and stop position, then THAT is a race. Anything else is just driving your car quickly....like my last 200 yard dash. Not a race; just a dash.

yeah i didnt have a choice when getting the car, my parents insisted on an auto cause they "want me to learn to drive first" so arguing went on and on lol but i am getting the 5 spd in the spring so its all good. neither of us have gone to a track. and all races are always 3 honks around here

Was the G35 auto as well? If they leave the traction control on, it will retard the motor and not pump out all the HP they are rated at. I have a 350z so I assume the same goes for the G35 as well.
