first up the loss

well... I was out cruising my friend in the passenger seat and this copper colled Tiburon comes blowing past me. Naturally I downshift and then go catch up to him. It obviously has exhaust and it sounded decent. It was the V6 btw. I didnt think much of it because ive pulled on the V6's before...well not this one, I pulled beside him and asked what he had done and he said "just intake and exhaust" well naturally thats what everyone says so we did a 40 roll and i held even at first but by the time i was shifting into 4th he was 2 car lengths ahead, and then he decided to dip and got on the interstate...i'm going hunting for him with our turbo miata next time. By the way he ran there is no way it was just intake and exhaust so im eager to find out what hes got done.

Yea that tibby had somethin esle done. I raced one wit intake and exhuast and beat him. Thats when i wasnt sparyin  i had intake and exhuast all so. Beat him from like 60 to 100 by 1 car or so

A car is only as good as it's driver.

well i dunno now, because my friend know's the guy with the tiburon and he claims that as far as he knows that all it has is intake and exhaust, im begining to wonder whether or not its supercharged, he could easily have one on it and i wouldnt have known. That would also explain why he pulled on me the way he did. Either that or my car is extremly slow when compared to a car that should only have around 10 more hp than mine

2 wins, 1 Tie, and 1 loss.

Wins:

- Raced Vinny again with his turbo tC on 10 PSI and 57trim custom turbo kit. I got him by a car and a half.

- Raced my friend Clayton's LS1 Firebird (all stock). About 2 cars on him.

Tie:

- Two brothers collectively called Twins (cause they are twins no brainer), have a 300zx TT with I/E, and pullies. 385 dyno proven whp. We are DEAD, I mean DEAD even.

Loss:

- Mustang Cobra 2003-2004 body with I/E/Tuned, and Pullies. He got me by 2 cars. I (as well as Twins), would hang with him all the way through 3rd gear. As SOON as I switch to 4th, the Stang would get it's lead.

All races were from 40ish (not really paying attention) to roughly 120.

2 races, 1 car.

Mini Cooper S

1st race:
3rd gear drop and I pull an easy car length and hold it up to 100 and slowly begin to inch away again

2nd race:
Stop light, he jumped the light (which was a cheap shot) and started about 1 length in front of me. By 3rd I was touching his rear bumper and by 110 mph I had his mirror

Ok so I smoked one of my friends in her 07 TC. We just picked up her car from the dealership after getting one of her free oil changes. We pulled up to a light and no one was around. I being silly pulled up next to her and rev'd my engine, she did the same in kind. I rolled my window down and asked if she really wanted to do it. She acknowledged that her car was stock and I had a slight modification to mine but still wanted to. Needless to say the light turned green and I dropped the clutch and floored it. after peeling out for a good 15 feet I launched ahead of here and by the time we cleared the intersection I was a car length ahead of her.

My cars mods ( Flint Mica) :
Crank Pulley
Strut tower bar

Her car mods( Nautical Blue):
Stock

Goes to show you.... Flint Mica > Nautical Blue. If you wanna win its all about Flint Mica.

Let me guess. You're manual, she's auto.

Nope we both in manual. Clearly I'm the better driver, and my pulley helped some. but yea besides the pulley for power no other speed performance.

I'll post for Vinny and Preston on their recent victories.

Vinny:

Wins:

- Single Turbo G35

- WRX STI (dyno proven 420awhp)

- Mustang Cobra (unknown mods)

Loss:

- Local guy who goes by the name TigerBall. 18 PSI on a 60-1 Ek Civic with dyno proven 450whp

Preston:

- Same WRX STI w/ 420awhp

Preston also plans to race TigerBall for sh!ts and giggles.

Will be intresting to see Brian's tC against TigerBall's Civic. Brian's tC puts down 400+whp on 15 PSI on 93 oct. If Brian changes over to his race tune though, TigerBall will loose. Brian's tC is over 5xxwhp on his race setting.

Ok, so my buddy w/ the B18 swap in his EK kept naggin me to give him another shot to race, so I did.

We got ourselves on rt 70 and started from about a 40 roll. I was able to stay about a half a car maybe a car length max ahead, then he downshifted and I thought "Oh crap. Vtec." He pulls about a car maybe a car length and a half on me, by the time we hit about 120 I pulled half a car length ahead again and then we stopped.

So I guess I beat the GSR again? Hehe.

They are good for the 1/4 mile because of their lightweight. But anything past the 1/4 mile, they start to fall behind, and 2az top end > b16 (and in this case b18 ) top end.

If you beat him at all, he either broke something....didn't know how to drive...or just wasted his time. Bone stock the S/C Cobalt will walk a modded NA tC. Best friend has one with only an intake and he runs an EASY 15 flat. With the added weight of your subs, I'd definitely doubt this one. I'd have to see this one in person to even give you the benefit of the doubt. If it was just the SS Cobalt (non S/C model), then maybe it'd be close and you could take the win but if he was S/C, doubtful the tC took it.

For my story...

Well, I am driving along on Rt. 100 when all of a sudden a white Corolla S comes up next to me and starts bucking. For those who haven't seen them, this is it:

specs:
Quote:
t's rated at 132 hp at 6,000 rpm and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm.

Quote:
The quarter-mile comes up in 16.9 seconds at 83.1 mph.

Quote:
curb weight (lbs) 2,811

Now really........why even try? I decided to give him the lead so he took off and I just easily caught him and passed him and just kept walking away. He, of course, flies by after I let off the gas and wait for him to catch up.

I thought the SS were supercharged....didnt think you could get a SS without the s/c...granted now they come with turbos.

Nah, you can get either. The SS S/C was a 2.0 L S/C engine and the SS was a 2.4 N/A motor.

2005-2006....
Quote:
The cobalt trim line includes five trims: LS, LT, LTZ, SS and SS Supercharge

Quote:
SS models have 171 hp, the SS Supercharged has 205; all other models have 145 hp. All come with a 5-speed manual transmission. A 4-speed automatic is standard on LTZ, optional on LS, LT, and SS

S/C models were underrated by GM to save customers on insurance. The reading for the SS S/C states 205 hp but that's really whp, not crank hp. The rest are crank hp numbers. Multiple SS S/C owners dynoed their cars brand new and put down 200-210 whp bone stock. My buddy's SS S/C is definitely in that range b/c he ran Greg50Lt's 06-07 Si with I/H/full exhaust and still had him by about 1 length. Greg dynoed at 202 in his Si.

My friend just bought a 98 Mustang gt so we decided to race. We raced twice. The first race he gave me the leave and I beat him by about 2 cars. Then the second race we went heads up and I beat him by about a car. All of my friends were watching and were all very surprised. And the other day I raced an 03 Civic SI with i/e heads up from a dead stop and I beat him by 4 cars.

15 flat with a S/C'ed Cobalt is slow. I ran a 15.1 with only an exhaust system for power in the tC.

That SS, although having the SS S/C wing, did not have ANY S/C whine what so ever. It doesn't matter how far away you are in the stands watching those cars...they whine as soon as they hit 2nd gear all the way up through the power band. For the mods you have, he either couldn't drive or it's not S/C, b/c he never regained any distance on you. That S/C will walk down a modded NA tC. It was a nice race, but I think you raced a cloaked 2.4 SS and not the 2.0 S/C.

Yeah, 15 flat is "slow" for their stock times and for his 1st time ever racing that car at a track. He hasn't been back yet but since we both don't go much at all, practicing is limited.
