I was coming back from a friend's house at night and at the stop light and from behind me I could hear a nice sounding motor down-shifting to a stop. Just from the sound I assumed it was a 300zx or a Supra (Both having that distinct sound to them) But to my surprise it was an IS300 He was playin his music loud and I was just minding my own business until I could hear his RPMs rise abit :o I raised my rpm's too, waiting for the light to turn green and we both floored it at the light I had him from the launch and I started gaining even more ground going into 2nd and third! It's just a shame that my exhaust drowned out the nice sound his motor was making (I did not expect the IS300s to sound that sexy with an exhaust, reminiscent of a Supra) but towards the end of third and going into 4th the is300 was starting to gain lost ground until I shut it off at a yellow light, which he blew past. Oh, it was the previous gen ISes, not the new ones

nice kill. yah, the IS300s have a 2jzgte I6, very similar to a NA version of the 2jzgte TT supra motor. so that might account for the similar engine tone.

but while they do rock about 220hp, they are HEAVY as balls...and unless he had a/f rims/tires, was probably running on Potenzas (crap) cuz thats what they come with from the factory.

He was the old El Chupacabra, I de-throned him and crowned myself the new El Chupacabra

i believe thats limited slip differential...makes the tires spin simultaneously..rather then one spinning at a different speed then the other

Another nice little victory ....

I'm cruising at about 65ish and next to me rolls a black RX-8 with a young guy driving and 2 of his buddies (probably HS rich boys or freshmen in college). I'm minding my own business just playing in the shadows... ...and I see him giving the car in front of him a lot of room. So, as he slows down a bit I decide to b/c I look over and he's laughing and so are his 2 friends. He's been pumping his car back and forth for about 1/8 of a mile and it's just annoying to see out of the corner of my eye. Well, I look over and give the nod and dump 3rd (miscalculation in rpms but it wasn't horrible). I get up to about 5500-5600 rpms and we are both matched.

As we pull, we are dead even but as I shift into 4th, I begin to pull consistantly. By mid 4th I already had his front bumper to my back fender and as I shifted into 5th I kept pulling and had him by 1 length easy.

I understand that extra people in a car make a big difference in a race but honestly, if you start the race, you suffer the consqeunces. The only thing is, with the consistant pull I had on him through 4th (a gear that our tC tends to be a bit slower in for some reason), I believe that I could have either matched him if he had no one else in the car or I could have had him by a fender.

But, all in all.....a win is a win. You play your cards as they lie.
