Hey guys, I just signed the papers yesterday on my '07 tC and it will be two weeks before it gets here. I plan to switch out my stock halogen headlight bulbs for some super whites, so I wanted to read up on what you guys had done, and what were the best choices. I noticed several threads where guys talked about having to also switch out the little bulb in the low beam headlight housing to get the color to be pure white when your lights are on. Lots of guys mentioned switching it out for blue or super white LEDs. One guy even mentioned that he used LEDs that he got from SuperBrightLEDs.com. Then I started seeing post where guys were saying the LED had melted. After checking on the website for SuperBrightLEDs I found something that I wanted to share with everyone, this warning is taken directly from their website. "Warranty Information: Do not use LED bulbs in the same housing with head lamps, the heat will cause them to fail quickly and void the warranty. We warrant all of our bulbs for one full year when if used in normal vehicle applications. We do not warrant our car bulbs when used in applications other than normal vehicle bulb installations or if used in headlamp housings." So, the heat from the halogen bulbs is too intense and melts the LEDs. Since that's the case, do any of you know if there are regular bulbs that are tinted, that you can use to replace the parking lamp in the housing? |

You can use leds, but it's actually the heat from the sun that can melt your normal led bulbs. I have leds that I've had in hot Georgia heat for over one year and not have any problems. The body of the bulb should be white only. It's a single diode led. Multiple leds will fail. There is a picture of the led I use on my garage profile. It's a single diode that looks like a yellow square when not lit. |

Thanks Orin, where did you get your LED that you used? Nice ride by the way! |

I usually get it from superbrightleds.com. Do me a favor and rate my ride, I could use some higher numbers. |

I got a set of PIAA wedge bulbs that look really hot. They got a purple tint to them to match my low beam bulbs. |

Thanks phillytc, I'll definitely check into them. I talked to a rep at SuperBright LEDs yesterday and he said that definitely the heat from halogen headlight bulbs in the headlight housing can generate enough heat to melt an LED. Now to be patient till my car gets here! |

Hey phillytc, is that set of PIAA wedge bulbs that you got the Super Plasma GT-X bulbs or are they Extreme Whites? I take it they are the No. 168 bulbs? |
