I just got my tc, and i want to keep it like new. I've always taken my old cars to car washes because of convenience. This time i'd like to actually give my car some real TLC lol!! So from reading all the forums, I'm guessing the correct order of everything from start to finish every time would be wash, dry, claybar, polish, then wax? Can anyone confirm or correct this for me? I plan on doing this once a week or once every other week depending on driving conditions, weather, etc.

If you want to keep your car like new i would recommend a clear bra and some clear headlight overlays. Rocks and debris on the highway will chip the paint easily and scratch up your headlamps.

Agreed.

I have the blue headlight overlays from http://www.rockblocker.com/

They look great and help out a lot. Make the light a little whiter as well with a slight blue hue. I'm looking into the clear bra b/c it's definately worth it. The full kit installed about my area (Annapolis, MD) is 500$ for the bumper, 15inches of the hood, fenders and mirrors. They detail it before installing it too so my buddy is going to fix the small scuffs I have on it a day before I go get it done.

Yea, I definitely want to get that too some time soon...
So I'm guessing my full washing order is right?

Kind of.....clay bar your car as you wash, it saves about 1 hour of your time and the lubricity of the car wash soap will make it glide.

Wash/clay, dry, cleaner wax, wax,...POLISH is a NO GO if you leave it out in the sun all the time....it will make the paint actually discolor.........

If you plan on polishing it, only do it once every 6-8 months. Polish is nice for show cars that don't see the outdoors unless they're on trailers, but damaging to paint with continued road use.

Wash/clay, dry, cleaner wax, wax....that's it.

You only need to claybar once every 3 months or so and wax and polish once a month, once a week would be way overkill.

Yeah, but if you clay bar each time you wash, depending on what environment you live in, the clay bar will take the old wax right off and then you can use a cleaner wax after that to cleaner the paint and put a wax layer on it....Mine shine's every other week!
