Just wondering if anyone has had problems with their struts and shocks after installing aftermarket springs... i know they say with s-tech you more than likely need to replace them... i have the trd so drop isnt too much but everytime i go over a bump, on the left side it feels like my strut is giving out, i hear a clunking sound, first thought was my cai hitting the fender, but thats not it, anyone encounter this issue? is it a bad strut, if so, whats a good brand to get, koni? trd? etc.. thanks

do you hear the "clunk" when you first start to accelerate, as the weight load shifts back? kindof like a click that almost sounds like something is loose or broken?

no, only when i go over a bump... i guess in a way, i relate it to feeling like the strut is bottoming out... basically, if i go down the same street twice with a manhole in the middle of the street, once with the left tire, and the latter with the right tire... the pass with the right side will sound normal .."as if the shock is being absorbed", while the pass with the left side i feel every bump on that manhole... i have a feeling it is the strut thats shot but is that normal running stock strut with only trd springs, ive heard it happen with s-tech but not trd, thanks

how many miles on the car and how many on the trd springs? They way you describe it, its possible it might be a strut. But someone correct me if i'm wrong, they are made by koni or tokico, i forget which one...and they're probably not bad quality struts. The 1.5 inch drop shouldn't make that much of a difference. Did you hit a pothole and bottom out real bad once or twice only on that one strut?

other than that, all i can think of is faulty spring installation. good luck.

total miles on car now are about 11000. miles on trd springs 4000. the stock struts are maybe by koni? are the trd ones also made by them? and i more than likely have hit a few hard holes, i do believe its the strut but figured id ask here first for other possible ideas before i go out and buy a new set... as for suggestions on sets, any? i know of koni and trd basically... thanks again

well, if you think its a strut, i would def get it looked at by a qualified tech.

If it is a strut, you should be getting a lot of bouncing suspension travel from that corner as well.

i have th same problem with my tc. everytime i hit the brakes and the weiht shifts there is a clunking noise. well i took it to a show and they said that when the car is lowerd that the stock struts adn shocks are compressed that amount of the lowering spring. so is causes the noise. im am wonderin if it is better to the new shocks and struts or to get new loweing springs. my bro has the same springs as me and he has no problems.
