Called dealer and they want to charge me $600+ to install TRD springs, that price is including the springs. What a rip off!!! I was undecided between HR and TRD. I like HR better but was going to go with TRD b/c of warranty. how much are you guys paying??

How does the spring-strut combo feel? I would like to hear the comparison. Do you have the sway strut brace? Thanks!

Check here for updateshttp://www.clubsciontc.com/ftopict-568.htmlIt took my dealership about 7 hours to complete, so glad I got it before they had actually done one. They probaly won-t be as cheap next time

Those guys at the dealer must be morons for real. I was quoted $500 for my spring install. Like so many others said on this thread I think its a tactic to scare people away and let me tell you I was frightened. LOL I went to a local performance shop and the guy installed the springs in less than 2 hours and charged me $100. I know what you guys are saying... Damn Lawman he must of done a Sh*ty job. The only complaint I have with the install its that the back wheels are cambered in a little little bit. I-m going back next week to get that fixed and get my alignment done. Other than that I-m a happy man. peace

I know for a fact I got kinda hosed on the install price...but in the dealerships defense:1. My tC was the first tC they had ever installed springs on, so I knew from the start it was going to take a bit longer than it normally would. it came to around 650 for parts/labor2. The dealership rocked, so I honestly didn-t mind paying a hundred or so extra bux, because honestly they aren-t making shit off of the cars.3. Did I mention the dealership rocked? I ordered a BSP or Flint, and was told the typical within 90 days. Got a call every time he placed an order (request) and a call everytime the allotments came in.Got my Flint within 20 days of the deposit!(Scion of Lewisville, TX)-Rodger Sterling

They also said that something about the spring rate being so high that it took longer. Doesn-t matter to me, checked everything out, looked good. Plus still have factory/trd warranty in tact!

Total BS, why would a dealer be or try to appear as a MOD friendly dealer if they are going to act like that besides 60/h is the average hourly rate for a stealership. any way $120 labor plus $200 springs $650 strutsit should amount to around 950-1100 installed with struts and springs i mean if your putting springs they better have a higher rate i-ll say at least 20% if your gonna stay with the stock shocks. and you will need a strut brace to really feel a better handling all around.Besides i would rather do it on a more experience shop what can they void on the warranty suspension? thats all basically in the normal wear items that are not covered under warranty any way so whats the problem? as the clutch is. bumper to bumper does not cover this items if you don-t believe ask you will be amazed.

First off, how are you going to go to a more experience shop, when the car is 2 months old, second I have the extended warranty which does cover the springs AND struts for 72mth/100k. So the $260 for install at the dealership was a steal as far as I-m concerned.

I dont get it. My dealer said that all the stuff from scion was already priced. The price you see on the website is for the parts AND the labor. It was all included. This is not correct?

just scion accessories (stuff listed on scion.com), TRD parts price do not include labor.

Now thats hard to wonder about...because its a TRD exhaust and i paid 525 for that including installation...Few days before ordering my tC, TRD springs were an option on the website... so does that include installation? lol hard ahrd hard to decipher!!Anything under 500$ for Item, Insallation, and ALignment is a good deal from the dealer, go for it.

The way I see it on the TRD exhaust is that they are charging an excessive amount for it, and the install is about as easy as putting the floor mats in. 2 bolts a new gasket, boom TRD exhaust. Not much of a bargin on the labor end.

ALL TRD exhausts are heavily priced and ez to install. As 95% of TRD exhusts are AXLE back....Friend bought a CAT-BACK exhaust for his Tacoma, was 450$...and then THAT was a steal... so iono mang.

Cougar, you better take advantage of that because your dealer is a dummy. Get all suspension work done before he learns the truth.

- Question: I just ordered my TRD springs from McGeorgeParts.com and i got to speak with the manager there. he told me that, -gettin my TRD springs intalled at an independent shop would not void any of my warranties, its against federal law for toyota to do such a thing...becuz if anything goes wrong on the car, they cant just blame it on my springs and not fix it...the only down fall is that toyota will not warranty my TRD springs, so if the springs go bad, they have the right not to fix that under warranty.-...so basically, wat this means to me is that even if i got my springs installed at an independent shop...toyota will still have to warranty everything else on the car, EXCEPT for the springsI just wanted to know how true is this...becuz i should be gettin my springs sometime this week and i need to know where i should get it installed...thx

Warranty questioned answered somewhere else fomr Don_Juan. Ill post again SO hopefully more will see it and answer the most common question on the site.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is also a common question that is asked; this is the law as it applies to aftermarket parts on a vehicle, and what the dealership is responsible for during warranty work. This is a very simple law, and its very good to know if you have to argue with your dealer about repairs on your car. Quote: -Under the Magnusson-Moss Act, aftermarket equipment that improves performance does not void a vehicle manufacturer-s original warranty, unless that warranty clearly states the addition of aftermarket equipment automatically voids the warranty or that the aftermarket device is the direct cause of the failure. The easiest way to check this is to look in your owner-s manual under -What is not covered.- Nonetheless, Dealers receive less compensation for warranty work than regular service rates and some have tried to deny warranty service. Under Magnusson-Moss Act a dealer must prove, not just vocalize, that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before they can deny warranty coverage. If they cannot prove such claim-or proffer a questionable explanation- it is your legal right to demand compliance with the warranty. The Federal Trade Commission (202-326-312 administers the Magnusson-Moss Act and monitors compliance with warranty law.- To sum it up. The dealer has to prove that whatever part you put on your car is the reason for the problem to deny you a warranty repair.
