That is way cool once you get the steering problem and the window fixed. Wish i had an extra car to fukc around in. It might not be a Ferrari but at least it has potential.

Is it turbo or N/A? I use to have a 91 MR2, so if you have any questions I may be able to help.

If I were you I would invest in the BGB (Big Green Book) factory shop manuals for the MR2 I had them, but gave them to the guy who bought the car from me.

Also the http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/

is the best forum for MR2s.

It was very reliable (the N/A) I had a turbo too, sold that as well. The BGB is the factory shop mauals you can get all of them for around $100 (body, mechanical, electrical). I got rid of mine because I needed I new car, my 2 had 212k on the orignal engine and the clutch was about to go and didn't want to put another $1200 into a car that old.

Problems: The rear tires will wear out FAST, I had to buy new rear tires every 8k miles

The t-tops are prone to leak, mine did until I replace all of the t-top seals

The engine is a pain to work on because of the location... have fun with the oil changes! Also, rain and snow have can get into the engine bay fairly easily. I had a weapon-r intake that would get wet and stall out the engine, if I were you I would leave the factory airbox on.

If you have a oil leak and you can't find where it's at... It's the rear main seal, which is a pain to replace because you have to drop the transmission and remove the clutch.

The spark plug wells will have oil in them from dried out seals, not a major deal but a pain nontheless.

Pros:

Its a sexy car, that is as fun to drive as it looks, even the non turbos are peppy. I have never driven a car that the handling was so superb. I will probably buy a 94-95 turbo down the road to restore.

Thats pretty sweet. I guess having a car to mess aournd with is a pretty decent route to go. This way you can leave it in an undrivable condition if you have to go somewhere and have a tC just to drive...

I like the Everything Toyota... Thats whats up...

sH*T honestly i don't even know if it has ABS. we just towed it to my brothers house, try starting tha motor to check if it was locked and it aint, but it would not start cuz there was no gas. and then covered it with tarp.. and i went home and never went back to check on it or work on it ..but for sure this weekend ima head down there to try working on it!

Pop the front hood, if it has ABS, it will be there.

okay i think i'll do that...but anyways i was reading some forums on that website you gave me and they talk about disabling tha abs.. what does disabling tha abs do to tha mr2? oh yeah we fixed tha damn rack and pinion and tha window and we only scored it for $200. Tha window was a b1tch put on! it probably took us in hour and a half or something to put it in ... as for tha rack probably 20 minutes or something to slap on... but someone misplaced tha damn bolt that holds tha tie rod on tha driverside..so we just used another bolt just to try it out and it freakin works! tha wheels can turn now! ....

..oh yeah we even found out that tha alternator belt snapped. How do you change that sh1t in tha mr2 looks way to complicated and hard cuz like what you said... hard to work on the engine because of tha location... any help would be cool...

thanks!
