My friend is thinking of buying a tC (im getting mines around spring). His car is giving him a lot of problems right now and he needs a new car asap. Unfurtunaly all he can put as a dp right now is $2000. He was thinking for leasing the car for 4 years and during those for years save up whatever is left on the price and pay it off.He was wondering wheather scion-s leasing program has an option to buy? The leasing shouldn-t be more than $250 a month and in four years he would have payed $12,000. He is hoping that in those four years he can save up the remaining $6,000.00 and pay off the car. When he told me this it sounded kinda good, a little too good so i was wondering what you guys think?

He-ll get violated on the buy-out price. If money is so tough - put $2K down and get a 72-month loan - the payments would be around $250, especially if he gets a barebone 5-speed for $16.5K.Otherwise no dealer will let him buy the car out for $6K - they will want at least $10K, so he will end up paying $22K+ for a $16K car...

Leasing is such a rip off.. I did it when I had a truck since I needed it ASAP with no cash and since I racked up hella miles on it it was cheaper to buy out then pay penalty but I lost shit loads no matter which way I went!

I lease my tc...as long as you can keep under the mileage and plan on a buyout at sometime, I think its worth it to keep your monthly bill down. I lease mine for 225 a month, and I put 3900 down. My tc was almost 22k when all said and done (taxes, regs, spoiler etc.) My buyout at the end of 3 1/2 years is 8500...not bad considering the shape I keep my car in...if you take immaculate care of a leased car, it will be worth your while.
