From what I-ve seen online the OEM Bridgestone RE92 tires on the tC aren-t that great.. well guess toyota had to cut costs somewhere.. was looking at the Bridgestone RE950-s for my new tC (whenever the dealer delivers it), anyone have experience with this tire? was thinking of getting them at the Tire Rack.com but wondering why their price is so low.. are they blemished? let me know..

I have put new tires on my car to fit my 18- wheels and ordered them from tire rack. I just got the cheapest ones, 225/40 Kumho Supra 712. Keep in mind you will also have to pay shipping, mine was about $40.

thanks tcchick..i-ll check it out.. trying to (yes this is funny) get an all season high perf. tire.. since i-ll be driving these into winter, before the snow comes.. then im putting on snow tires.. biggest thing i need is something that can endure cold.. since i-ve seen summer tires and they cannot put up with the cold.. not enough silica in them to withstand the cold.. but thanks.. i forgot about kumho..

The Kumho 712 is a great, inexpensive tire. I have had them on my MR2 for a couple of years. As for winter tires, I buy a dedicated set with stock rims(if you have aftermarket) are a set of steel wheels. Bridgestone blizzacks are a good choice

I w0rked at sears auto center for about a year so i got the basic jist of good tires. the KUMHO tires (korean) are great tires for the price. Cheapest good quality H rated tires i know of. But if your willing to shell out the dough, the Bridge Stone Pole Positions s03-s are the best Z rated tires you can get. No Mileage warranty, but the grip is awesome, and the treadware is longer lasting than most, including the goodyear eagle f1-s, and the falken *zzeeeennieeeesss* as i like to call them.

Sorry to jump in here also, but I plan on getting some 18- rims to put new tires on during next spring/summer.Anyways I-d be looking for all season tires that give good preformance. I mean I can buy any old tire right now and its gotta handle better then my 30 buck tires on my 90- Accord during winter hehe. But mich I was leaning twards those or the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. Both seem to be good picks just the 950-s have more results on them.Edit: Someone else just recommened the Continental ContiExtremeContact.

yeah no problem.. even going to 18- wheels will still result in needing decent tires.. thing is.. people want summer tires only.. great if you live in california.. but in michigan, it-s the cold people forget about.. I used to run summer only tires in october.. but it can get down to 30 sometimes at night then.. the tires were flat spotting because they couldn-t put up with the cold.. all-season can deal with the temps... snow is another question.. i bet the RE950-s could deal with an inch.. but throw in ice.. and you can forget it..I-ll probably get through november okay with whatever replacement i get for the 92-s.. then switch to a blizzak in december.. but i-ll take a look at the pirelli-s.. i-m just glad there is a tire out there like the RE950.. which is to be used on more than just a hot july day..maybe it-s just me, but my experience with conti-s haven-t been that great.. so i personally don-t even consider them.. and i-ve kind of given up on Dunlop now that goodyear makes their tires.. many many bad dunlops i-ve had.. so i went with bridgestone lately..

Well I finally got the car and had the RE950-s put on.. not impressed at all.. vague on center steering feel.. and it-s drifting to the right.. dealer already checked the alignment.. and that-s fine.. so the tires will be cross rotated next just to see.. high road force on them too.. 12 and 15lbs.. on two.. I will definitely be taking advantage of the 30-day test drive bridgestone offers and get my money back.. not happy with the results.. the factory RE92-s have a better on center feel.. So I am taking your advice and looking into the pirelli PZero Nero M&S tires.. they have some GREAT reviews.. also found out that robots manufacture that tire.. So the whole imbalance issue is supposedly fixed.. I hope so too! And for all those reading this, thanks for the input on the other tires, but they didn-t satisfy the low temp requirements I have for michigan.. planning on using these from march to november.. a -3-season tire- and snow tires for when it gets ugly..

No problem Sin...at least I have the 30-day refund policy (aka test drive) from bridgestone.. so when you getting the tires? i was going to order mine this week...if you get them soon, let me know what they-re like compared to stock...my biggest thing is steering feel...the re950-s are a bit numb..isolated, vague..So post what the pirelli-s are like.. i-m curious to know as well.. since that-s what-s going on soon..

yeah exactly.. reviews looked really good.. i-m getting them this week, i-ll let all know what they-re like.. The tread was nice on the Pirelli, I agree!.. see here-s my theory.. a directional tread such as the RE950 only has one continous tread rib in the middle.. this is it for steering feel.. The PZero Nero M&S has 3 tread ribs, like the stock RE92s.. which adds more steering feel.. and it-s asymmetric, can go either way, no more directionals.. i like being able to rotate side to side if i have to.. that idea works better for me!! I-m getting these in the stock 215/45-17 size.. let ya know about it later in the week of how it-s going.. and for $116 a tire? from tirerack.com very good price!!

yeah i did look at the kumho-s.. but not enough of the -all-season- (meaning put up with the wild temperatures here in michigan) for me.. if i lived in florida i would get those as well.. looks like a decently priced tire.. thanks for the input!!

I have a set of Falken Ziex ze512 leftover from my matrix (they are all season and have decent grip, plus they are pretty cheap and have 360 tire wear), will use them, but if I did not have them, I-d probably go with a different size - something like 215/50/17 - will fill in the wheel well much better than tiny stock tires.

I also had the Kumho Ecstas on my eclipse. I bought them from tirerack.com for like $89 a piece. They were the best tires I ever had. Great in rain and snow.

Ok, so I think I-m going to buy the Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. They seem to be great quality and very reliable. (Especially for Cleveland weather)Now, forgive me for my ignorance, but what do you do with the old stock tires? Sell them? If so, where and how much can you get? Will the dealer buy them back if they-re brand new? My tC should be here any minute, hour, day now. If I ask the dealer to take the tires right off and put mine on, will the buy them from me? Will I get a decent price for them? Tire rack lists them for $149/tire.

IMHO and not to be a downer.. but i did get the pzero nero-s.. and am evaluating them.. not sure if i am going to keep them.. the ride is okay.. but seems more firm than the stock tires.. granted a performance tire isn-t the best ride.. but i-m debating if the tire is too hard.. the potenza re950 that were on there, rode much differently, more smooth..so if you can hold off, since i wouldn-t want to see a fellow tC owner spending money and then find out that they don-t like them.. I am going to take one more week and break in the tires.. they were -squirrely- for the first 180-200 miles.. all over the road.. scary.. now they seem to be getting better.. anyway i-ll let you know how it is, if you want to wait to see what I think of them..okay here-s how they pirelli pzero nero m+s are so far..1. Feeling every crack and bump in the road2. Handles like it-s glued to the ground, almost scary it turns so quickly..3. A thruming (think hollow humming) at certain speeds, but has quieted down more with more miles4. braking seems to be a little (10%) better than the re950-s i had.5. Since it feels every bump and crack in the road, at certain speeds 55-65 a harmonic is set up and begins to lightly vibrate the car.. some roads cause this some dont..6. It will follow the ruts in the road, commonly known as tramlining, don-t take your hands off the wheel.. you could end up in the oncoming lane like I did..Anyway I am still evaluating these.. if you can wait one more week I can give you more of my thoughts then.. I would also buy these from a local place like Discount Tire if I were you.. That way if you do buy them and really don-t like them, they can work with you to get what you want.. Tirerack (bought them from tire rack) they told me to take a hike and didn-t care to work with me to make me happy since i wasn-t sure if the pirelli-s is what I was looking for after I got them and tried them.. I don-t think I-ll buy from them again, I guess service is what you pay extra for.. and they were just jerks about the whole thing.. So next time I will go to Discount.. At least they-re willing to make a customer happy.. At least discount tire is willing to help me out here.. so I have options.. About your other tires? Some people have been selling tires on ebay.. or you could hang onto them in some severe case where you blow out a tire and need a replacement til you can get another main tire..

UPDATE : I AM KEEPING THE PZERO NEROS!!i was hesitant on recommending these.. since for the first 300 or so miles the car wasn-t very stable with these tires! Now since I-ve put on about 500 miles.. the tires have settled down and are great!!.. I do have a slight vibration (im picky) starting at 45 mph and increasing.. but that-s a balancing issue I believe. and I will get that taken care of soon.. no big deal..I also have noticed the fuel economy improve 2 mpg.. I am still driving city and still the same way.. i am thinking it-s the tires.. but 27mpg city isn-t too bad at all.. a/c on sometimes..======================================CONS : a little squirrelly for the first 300 miles or until they break in.. then they are great..PROS: sharper steering, insane grip, better stopping power, ride is firm not harsh, increased mpg (just my car?), quiet rideBOTTOM LINE: I would recommend these tires to anyone who wants to get rid of the stock tires and get something else.. the price is lower than most i-ve seen, except the kumho-s..

What size tires did you get? I don-t think you can increase mpg with tires unless the ratio is wrong and your actual clocking more miles on your car than your actually driving. Check the site I posted to below to see if the tire size is too far out of range. Theoritically (sp?) if you got 2 mpg more on these tires and the ratio is screwed up, then you put 24 imaginary miles on your car (based on 2mpg on a 12 gallon fill up).

i have increased mpg-s with other tires before.. they do make tires with lower rolling resistance to increase mpg-s.. but mpg-s could increase with the engine breaking in and that is what happened.. the static diameter of the tire is exactly the same as the stock re92s and the diameter is also the same size as the re92s. When I filled up yesterday I am back at 25mpg.. Looks like I was using the a/c more.. that- why I went down. yeah and you-re right if the diameter was messed up you would definitely be putting more miles on the car.. the revs per mile are the same as stock.. 846 I believe.. but I thought of that as well when i was looking at tires..the size is stock.. 215/45-17 but even within the size of 215/45-17 you can have tires of varying diameters.. and if anyone wanted to know.. the tires have 2 plies rayon on the sidewall and tread is 2 steel plies, 2 rayon, 2 nylon..

Yeah, you can maintain tire size and increase mpg...rolling resistance is a big factor....My experience with this is, the more the ride quality is improved by the tire, the worse your gas milage will be. If ride quality goes down, mpg go up! Stiffer tires = less rolling resistance perhaps? I-d look into the PZero Neros, Yokohama Parada Spec2-s and one of them gforce tires, lol. Not sure of those yoko-s come in 215/45ZR17 though, i-ve been shopping for 18-s

i-ll just get the falken azenis for about the same price 89-95 a piece and they are great specially for the track. will last for about 2yrs if you take care of them or about 1yr if you race them a lot .thats about 15-35k miles which is very damn good for a performance tire that is great in wet and dry surfaces.

Just got my Zero Nero M&S tires put on today!!! Bought them at Discount Tire and installed there. Finally, I can agree exactly with the above statements. These tires are an incredible improvement over the stockers. I did much research and thanx to sciontc_mich, I-m extremely happy...Ignore that small con , but its been true today(just a tad squirelly). THE ABOVE PROS ARE FOR REAL, OMG :oFind out why the day was not so perfect for me in the -Enkei 18-s- thread
