Down here in the south(or i think its only down here) we have a piss load of love bugs this time of year.....anyone know the best type of removal for it?...i hear if you take a fabric softner sheet and some soap it will come right off....anyone have any ideas? |

Interesting about the fabric softner. If you are lazy just power wash it but don't spray too close. If you want to take your time a good car wash soap like NTX series is great. Apply some WD-40 if you are still having problems and that should do the trick! Bugs are the devil. Only thing i enjoy about the winter time is I can drive for miles and rarely encouter a splattered bug on my front bumper. |

a nice textured sponge works wonders on bugs and anything else like tar, sap, etc. ![]() -BearZ Rules! |

well you could use a clay bar and it would work wonders, but it's kind of a waste considering the clay would be full of insects. Best thing to use would be a non scratch textured sponge. I personally prefer to use a microfiber towel and elbow grease. That way i know i won't scratch the paint. ![]() |

I've heard if you take a towel and get it wet with really hot water and place it on the bug or sap it helps to get it off Chuck Norris is currently suing myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you. |

It might soften up the bug juices but not sap. Sap is very sticky and a little rubbing alcohol or degreasing substance would be needed. But I agree....microfiber cloth and elbow grease.........then go over the car with the clay bar ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

OMG this is so funny..what an old thread about those damn love bugs....eww I had a million of them plastered all over the front of my car (luckily not my tC) cuz they were all over Orlando...Im so glad we dont have those down here..maybe they cant stand the extreme SoFla heat or humidity or something..those bugs are disgusting though n we had 2 scrub so hard 2 get them off...honestly had 2 wash the car twice..didnt use anything special though n it worked. ![]() |

thats true.. i've never actually tried, its what the detail guy at chevy told my mom for her vette. But he said no degreaser stuff for her car cause she had it treated with some sealer, cause of our rain here Chuck Norris is currently suing myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you. |

Maybe a special coating for the clearcoat due to high acidity rain. Sap is a pain to get rid of though. If it is in direct sunlight for more than 10 minutes, it will leave a stain in the clear coat no matter how hard you rub. Gonna have to use a rubbing compound so LIGHTLY buff it out. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

it basically is a gimmick they talked my mom into.. we don't have high acidity rain or anything that harsh.. It's supposedly supposed to protect the red.. they just like to sucker you into crap Chuck Norris is currently suing myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you. |

Well, actually, that's something that actually helps. The way red pigment is dispersed onto metal surfaces, causes it to be very easily oxidized. It'll fade almost immediately without a clear coat and over a period of a lot of rain, the water will actually break the pigment down and cause the paint to oxidize the metal and fade the paint. I had an old Red Omni and that's something they offered even back in the 80s for some red cars. Red paint pigment just has a tendency to do that. A friend of mine is a body shop painter and he mentioned something about how the pigments were dispersed. Also, cars that you see with a NEON paint (real neon colors) will turn into a chalky color within 2 years. The reason NEON looks the way it does is due to sun exposure. The more light, the more NEON it looks. So, although the light amplifies the pigment, the light also breaks it down. ![]() Complaining is futile when you supported the victory. |

thanks for the info, I'll pass it on to my mom, she was a little upset after she had it applied, they put some scratches in the paint, might make her a little happy Chuck Norris is currently suing myspace for taking the name of what he calls everything around you. |
