I finally got my system up and running, and I love it. Now I just need to know what the optimum levels are for the system. What do I adjust the frequency at??? and what do I adjust the other knob at??? what are they suppose to be at to minimize distortion and make it sound the best. Thanks for any help. Pioneer deh-p6700 HU 10" Alpine SWS Sub dual voice coal 4ohm (300w rms) 900peak Kenwood 300w mono Amp 10 gauge amp kit 12 gauge speaker wire if that info helps! |

it's all a matter of preference. play with the dials until it sounds the way u want it. some people prefer the crisp highs, some like the drowning bass. u should turn it up to the level u like listening to it at then adjust from the amp and/or deck to find your balance. |

when tuning your sytem its all in what you like, but as a rule for my self i consider my self a audionut this is what i do, with your 4 main speakers adjust them with your head unit as you see fit, remember the human ear hears mid-range the best so boost the bass and trible the most but maybe lower mid range, if you have an amp, adjust it to just below clipping level with your volume 3/4 the way up, what i do is adjust the low bass in all the way down and let the sub pick that up, then adjust the high and mids to compensate for the diff. |

Sub levels you want between 60-80 hz, mid and highs 100 hz and up based upon size of the speakers. as for tuning the amps start with your four channel, turn the amp gain completely down, then turn the volume on your radio to max, then turn the amp gain up slowly till you hear distortion, when that happens back the gain up slightly. that amp is now set, follow the same methods for the sub amp, and you are done, and tuning the amps this way runs the lowest chance of blowning an amp or sub in the future. !!!ALSO REMEMBER TO GIVE THE WHOLE SISTEM ABOUT 20 HOURS OF PLAY AT NORMAL LEVELS TO BREAK IT IN, THEN YOU CAN BLAST IT!!! |

In case you haven't figured this out yet, you should have your low pass crossover set at about 75-80 hz, the gain for the amp, which may be called "level" usually is set at about 1/2 or lower, depending on your application. STart with everything turned down to zero, the amp level and receiver volume. Turn your HU volume up to about 3/4 of its max playing volume. Now slowly turn the gain on the amp up until you get max playing volume from the subs, if you start hearing distortion turn the level back down again. The amp should now be set at a reasonable level. |
