Hey all i just wanted to say that my 18's EMX with pzero nero tire flat out on the freeway today. lol. It all started when i was going down stockton from sacramento (30 miles apart) and went back. Half way to sacramento i smelt fish. Thought it was farm cow sh!t like i always smell going on 99 freeway towards my home. Later it started to smell like rubber... i ignored it for a mile or 2. Speed range from 65-80 mph. I got worried when it smelt REALLY bad so i pulled over 2 miles before the Scion dealer that i got my tC from. I looked at my rear mirror and that thing was smoking! My rear driver side tire was smoking... I came out and looked at it, the rim was still in perfect condition but the tire has a 10inch gash. The tire looks perfect but for that gash. I wonder what happend..? How come my car didnt go outa controll when the tire f'd up? Could my warranty cover this wierd incident? BTW my spare tire sucks ass.. its 17 inch and YELLOW.. YES our spares are YELLOW! omg what an offset from a dark color FM car like mines lol. Anywho im gonna head up to scion tomorow to see if i can get a new tire for free.. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

are the p-0's run flats? i know lexus includes Run flats on their sc430 stock...and u have the enkei's so maybe, i dunno.

that and u had a rear tire blow out, not a front tire, so u can still maintain control of the car.

that low profile of a tire there is not much drop to make your control issue a problem. And when low the stiffer sidewall will fake you out on tire pressure if you do not have trained eye. Good luck on the dealer. My thought is they will make you pay since it does not sound like a defect but rather object hit you so some sort.

I gave toyota my tire/wheel and 30 mins later they came back saying there was a nail.. I payed $150 + 40bucks at American Tire co to put in a new one. Dam these tires are soo expensive... I guess my deflatation was caused by a nail.

I am guessing the warning light did not come on for you. Which make me wonder what the parameter is for making the light go on.

Yeah i was wondering the same... i had the tire warning light came on once because one of my tires was off 10 psi. Fixed that and now that i have no psi on this flat.. wonders... hmm.

If there is a drastic drop in tire pressure in one tire from the set psi the light will come on, but if they all go are low (within 3-5psi of each other) the light will not come on, even if you just have 5psi in all four tires. My guess is that his tire pressure was too low on all 4 tires and when one went pop, it didn't register. just a guess though.

they are 130 on tirerack. Also try going to costco next time, they have competitive pricing, and they rotate/balance for the life of the tire. They will order any tire for you. Just watch them so they don't mess up your rims when putting the new tires on initially.

oh those roads on 99 are terrible. I was just there last month. There was so much traffic at 2am in the morning because of construction. Every 20mins there is a different smell, like different cows and animal dropping.

I still have not been able to source this information. The sensors are gauged off your rotor and have nothing to do with PSI. There is not a sensor inside the stock tire/wheel. The sensors work off RPM and not the RMP your thinking of it's Revolutions Per Mile. i.e. a tire goes flat and that tire\wheel combination now spins at a higher RPM do to the decrease in overall diameter therefore thowing a code because it doesn't match the others. In my case with 30 series tires my car will not through a code if I have a tire go flat. Someone somewhere knows either what the threshold is or if it is possible to adjust the sensitivity so please share if this person is you. Thanks
