Rolling the fender lip?

Guys, I was told by a shop that to roll the rear fender lip just raise the car use a wood bat and press against the inner lip using the tire as leverage. This sounds iffy to me. I was looking for a specific tool. I have seen them for VW I wonder if it is universal. Anyone shed some light on the tool or the idea the tuner shop had?

I had to do this on my Civic and it was actually pretty easy. I was a little weary thinking there was a good chance I might distort the quarter panel from the stress but it worked out well. I started with the bat technique then after I had it rolled up a decent amount I used a hammer (lightly tapping) to flatten it out evenly. It's scary when you start but once you get the feel for how solid the sheet metal is it's easy.

i've used the baseball bat method and it works. if you use a wooden bat, the fender carves into the wood, so the fender doesnt roll as easy. if you use a metal bat, the metal can scratch up your paint (which isnt a problem since you cant see the paint on a rolled fender lip anyway).

you can purchase an Eastwood fender roller for $300. Excellent tool. A friend and I used it on his Jetta. Universal fitment.
